The inflexibility and untrustworthiness
Of the Chief Minister of NPC
Kanthar Balanathan, Australia
Population composition of Tamils

Jaffna              -577,745          -18.56% of total Tamil population
Mannar            -80962             - 2.6%              -do-
Vavuniya         -142,561          - 4.58%            -do-
Mullaittivu      -81,263            - 2.61%            -do-
Kilinochi         -111,210          - 3.57%            -do

The Northern Province population of 993,741, is 31.92% of the total population of 3,113,247 in the island. Remaining 68.08% of the Tamils live outside the Northern Province.

Probability of merging of Eastern Province with the Northern Province is zero. Current Chief Minister is of Muslim origin SriLankan. SriLanka does not wish to have another separatist war to give a Provincial Administration to the Muslim. It is wise that the Tamils accept the current level of Provincial Administration (NPC), and live, socially integrated and humanely with the majority Sinhala people in the North. The Eastern Province should practice democracy, and live socially and humanely with the Tamils and majority Sinhalese in the East. Muslims of SriLanka are not fools to be charmed into your foolish diplomacy and sneaky plans. They would like to administer the East as SriLankans. Therefore, please stop propagating to your supporters around the globe to attract Muslims by giving them media assistance etc.

It is a strong advice that Mr. CV Wigneswaran concentrate on developing the North, and look forward to modelling the North as an intellectually and technologically advancing Province, instead of chattering gobbledygook politics. Mr. CV Wigneswaran; You are ageing, and too old to understand 21st century modern politics and democracy, hence you should move sideways and give the position to a youngster who understands 21st century politics, rather being a chatterbox. I am 73+ of age and have an IQ of 127. I am not sure of your IQ score. Our Tamils in the North is so backward to understand Demography, Democracy, and Human Geography & Justice. The only doggerel that terrorist Prabakaran (VP) propagated was Tamil Eelam. He is a foolish smuggler with no education. The backward followers of VP are still continuing with that mantra. Politicians like you and irrational politicians like Sivajilingham, are continuing to use that mantra; “Tamil Eelam”, to intoxicate and indoctrinate the young ones and the old bamboozles.

Brahmins fooled the humans that “Mantra” in Sanskrit speaks to god and god will give everything that they spit out. The Pandarams who ruled Jaffna is of a jungle mind intelligence characters. They worshiped lots of Hindu gods, however, did the Gods give any facilities to the Jaffna Man? Still people are interested in building temples, Kopurams, and fighting for Siva, Vishnu. Did the Pandarams think of developing Jaffna? The Pandarams ran to Tamil Nadu and the South for food.

Your act is similar to: “like somebody who retains something, but prevents others getting it, although that somebody does not use it”. Neither you are eager to develop, nor allow the Council members to progress with development. May be now some progress is made with respect to small industries and work on water storage in Thondaimannar.

Mr. Thavarajah Sinnadurai (TS), the Leader of Opposition (LOP) has pointed out several shortfalls within the Council. TS, DD, and EPDP have a strong vision and mission, for the province, however, people in the North are so brain washed about FP, TNA, Tamil Eelam that they vote for the comedians who still go on preaching for TE. Hon TS is eager to develop the North, however, he is the LOP with limited power. Why don’t you consider a minister position for TS in a united council administration?

Mr. CVW, just give some thoughts: 31.92% of the Tamils including Indian origin live in the North. Remaining 68.08% of the Tamils live outside the North. Tamils from the highlands hold key positions in the cabinet. Mr. CVW, why not Sambanthar relinquish the TNA, LOP joke, running to US, meet US and Indian politicians, to bluff the people in the north that he is in contact with seagulls in the West. It would be beneficial for TNA to join the government and some can hold ministerial position and start development.

Another example is that you wear national dress, with Pattai & pottu, when GOSL President visits the North. However, when anyone from US, UK, OR Europe visits the North, you seem to present yourself with a suit outfit, without the Pattai and Pottu. (Ref: http://www.jvpnews.com/srilanka/180243.html). What is the reason for this hypocrisy CVW?

It is of the view that youare the bottle neck and constrain for reconciliation and development. You have become a slave to the US and Rudrakumaran. You also seem to gather some separatist in Jaffna to run behind you, which gives fear to TNA politicians. Your speeches are like that of pseudo random signal (PRS) with some pattern.

What is the reason you complain on PTA to the US? India has an act known as POTA, and every country has the right to enact an act to prevent terrorism. It is of the opinion that no outside country should interfere with GOSL law and legal affairs. Mr. CVW, Can you ask US as to why US is destroying countries, just for oil and oil passage? Think of the 9/11, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Yugoslavia, Kosovo and several nations. The war here were perpetrated by US for their selfish motive, giving flimsy false lies. Do you know the extent of HR violations committed by the US soldiers in these countries? Do you not know the result, if American forces land in the North or Trinco? Are there no competent medical practitioners to test people in the North? You are humiliating and disgracing your doctors; being a Chief Minister.

In the 21st century, China is almost feeding most of nations. China is competitive, flooding the world market with all kinds of products, for common man to access. US billionaires does not like that, because they want all income to accumulate to their account. Today a common man can afford to have a computer because China makes it available at competitive price.

Idiosyncrasy of the CM for a power demand.

Ref: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-26274032. Tamil chief minister C V Wigneswaran: 'We're not terrorists'. If not what are we? We take on terrorism in different dimensions on different platforms. Today the University is teaching terrorism fighting for graduation ceremony. Organising the ceremony is the responsibility of the University, not the Students Union Chairman.

You often state that people in the North are living at the point of a gun. It is totally not true CVW. I have been in Jaffna, and that was not my judgement. The only truth is people live in fear of sword, sword killing, cuts, drugs, child sex etc. by the Tamil goons. Being a Chief Minister, have you ever made any attempt to go around villages and speak to people about the wrongdoings, and where their children’s life is leading to? Every goon wants to take a boat and come to Australia. After coming here, they want Tamil Eelam. What a joke CVW?

CVW, you sit with Kamba Bharathi and make speeches, which yield no benefit, but think you are too big of a person to talk to ordinary citizens. You are nothing as far as the Tamils are concerned CVW. Just a common man being elected to the NPC. Please restrain your talks and refine your thoughts and behave like a common person.

“Wigneswaran says that there is no room for geographical divisions in the Northern Province”. Ref:http://newsfirst.lk/english/2014/06/sinhalese-monks-consider-way-consider-estate-tamils-Wigneswaran-tells-creating-divisions/42257. Your ancestors ill-treated Jaffna men based on caste. Your ancestors voted disfranchising Highlands Tamils. Your family and friends are living with geographical divisions in Australia based on caste. Every President/Chairman/Secretary/ Committee members should be from the Vellala caste, irrespective of their education and intelligence. Most of Senior citizens association’s presidents are ordinary Clerks from SL, because they are from Vellala or Pandarams caste. It is a disgrace to note of their intelligence.

Missing Persons

Can you categorically confirm that there are no Tamils hiding in countries, giving room for their relations to claim missing person? Can you confirm that no one drowned in the Indian Ocean?

War Crimes and Reparation

Tamils are forcefully demanding war crimes justice. CVW: Have you ever made any attempts to talk about the war crimes of LTTE. How many humans have they murdered? What is the value of loss to properties and humans? Talking about reparation, who will accept responsibility for the reparation for the people and the country?

தமிழ் மக்களின் அரசியல் விடயங்களில் அமெரிக்காவின் பங்களிப்பு அவசியம். Ref: Tamil win: This is the most derogative statement of the 21st century. Mr Sambanthar, you are a citizen of SriLanka. Why do you think that a separate country should interfere into SriLankan affairs? Would you invite your dissimilar neighbour to interfere into your family affairs? SriLanka is a sovereign republic, don’t you know that Sambanthar?

Is Islamic imperialism & Christian-West controlled Wahhabi incursions one & the same?

Shenali D Waduge

While we empathize with the Muslims for the manner that the Anglo-Europeans have virtually destroyed the Middle East and killed hundreds of thousands of people in the process as well as manipulate a religion they created (Wahhabism) in order to not only divide the Muslims but cause dissent among all others against Muslims, there is another important factor – Muslim incursions into non-Islamic nations and heritage sites has a history far before Wahhabism was created by the British. This is where the empathy has got confused and where Muslims themselves must explain their conduct.

There is a history to the clashes between Anglo-Europeans and Muslims. Islam and Christianity have been clashing through history. The objective of both has been to forcibly or deviously acquire lands and territories and amass followers to their faiths. Both are in a competition of numbers!

The bottomline is both West and Islam have been historically aggressive and have blood on their hands. Crusades for Christians is equivalent to Jihad for the Islamists.

While todays incursions are attributed to British created Wahhabism, the reality is that Islamic imperialism has been taking place far before the Crusades and far before Wahhabism emerged in 1740.

The First Crusade was launched in 1095 by Pope Urban II. The clashes between Islam and Christianity have been to acquire Jerusalem. Six such crusades of bloodshed have taken place between these two religious sects in the name of their religion. Report by Physicians for Social Responsibility puts an estimate of 4million Muslims having been killed from Western interventions against the Muslim world. The killings by Muslims will be no different.

“I was ordered to fight all men until they say ‘There is no god but Allah.’”
Prophet Muhammad’s farewell address, March 632

It was in 630 that Muhammed launched Tabuk Crusades against the Byzantine Christians on a false rumor but before returning he forged agreements that the people could seek Islamic ‘protection’ if they paid tax (jizya) which later became Caliphs' policies. Any state that did not wish to be attacked had to pay jizya. The converted paid zakat tax. It was after Caliphate of Abu Bakr betweeb 632—634 that Arab polytheists had to convert to Islam or die. Byzantines were defeated in 634. Thereafter it has been a series of brutal Muslim conquests that covered Damascus, Iraq, annexation of Jerusalem in 638, Iran, Egpyt, controlling Syria and Palestine in 641, North Africa, Cryprus, Tripoli and establishing Islamic rule in Iran, Afghanistan and Sind, Arab besiege of Constantinople capital of Byzantine Empire, Lower Indus Valley, Spain, Italy, Sicily, Sardinia

Orders to destroy non-Muslim prayer houses began in 807 when Calip Harun Al-Rashid gave orders to burn the Church of Mary Magdalene in Jerusalem. In 937 Church of the Resurrection was burned by Muslims. Thereafter in 1012 Al Hakim issued decree against Jews and Christians.

Attacks on Christians began in 813 when Christians in Palestine were attacked and forced to flee. In 937 Muslim ruler Ikhshid writes to Emperor Romanus boasting his control over holy places.

“We will export our revolution throughout the world . . . until the calls ‘there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah’ are echoed all over the world.” Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, 1979 (agent of West)

Modern Islamic imperialism via Wahhabism

The memoirs of British spy Hempher clearly establishes the British role in creating the Wahhabi Islam also confirmed by Ayyub Sabri Pasha. It was part of Britains divide and rule policy. Wahhabi Islam was only created in 1740. The new faith as deemed by Britain was to contradict Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi’ie, Hanbali, Jafri schools of thought.

Was this not why the Wahhabis are destroying all holy tombs and burial grounds, stealing Prophets treasures, works of art?

Wahhabis are linked to Muslim Brotherhood which was formed to confront the Egyptian challenge to British Empire hegemony in the region using jihad against Egypt secular constitution of 1923.

A small book entitled Confessions of a British Spy reveals relevant facts about how the British intelligence agencies created Wahhabism, whose mandate is now the basis of ISIS. Sheikh ‘Aadel Al-Kalbani, former imam of the Grand Mosque in Mecca announced in 2014 that ISIS is the result of the Salafi version of Islam.

The British Empire and now Anglo-American establishment created Saudi Arabian Wahhabism has destroyed most of the shrines in Medina and through financial and military support of Wahhabi ISIS and Taliban Jihadis is destroying Buddhist shrines in Afghanistan, Christian shrines in Syria and Muslin Shrines across the Middle East.

“I was ordered to fight the people until they say there is no god but Allah, and his prophet Muhammad.”
Osama bin Laden, November 2001

The mercenary jihadi Wahhabi armies fighting in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Egypt, Syria using the names Taliban, Al Qaeda, Al Nusra and ISIS are all Western created. Leader of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is a graduate of mind-controlled Guantanamo Bay who announced the creation of an Islamic State, or caliphate.

It is also true that Al Qaeda, ISIS and all other splinter groups are simply using ‘Islam’ and ‘jihad’ as war cries as ordered to by their Western masters. The Associated Press has revealed that 70% of recruits to ISIS don’t even know what Islam is. The subjugation to God’s will makes it easy to brainwash both Islamic and Christian fundamentalists into carrying out ‘evil acts’ claiming them to be the wish of the God for which they would be rewarded.

The next question is the credibility of the Saudi family who in reality are descendants of Jewish merchants from Iraq and explains why they were rewarded for undermining the Ottoman Empire by the creation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932.

In 2015 Prince al-Waleed was quoted as saying “Saudi Arabia and Israel must bolster their relations and form a united front to stymie Tehran’s ambitious agenda.”
Saudi remains the West’s greatest ally in the Middle East. Saudi is used as a launchpad for West’s agenda against the rest of the World.

Even the UN dares not take any action against Saudi. The best example of this is the manner the UN included Saudi into its blacklist of child killers and it took just one call from the Saudi’s threatening to remove all monetary contributions and Saudi was removed from the list. Money talks in the UN!

If Wahhabism is a by-product of the British and meant to divide Muslims and used to antagonize non-Muslims against Muslims, we need to question how Islamic is Wahhabism and whether all successful incursions via Wahhabi funded mosques and followers are an indirect success story for Western imperialism! This is where the real followers of Islam must take note of and address. Surely they must by now realize that Islam has been hijacked by British-controlled Wahhabi Islam and used to expand Western imperialism with the footsoldiers being fundamentalist Muslims and not Christians. The Christian foot soldiers are the NGOs and other local lackeys who lead luxurious lives while sending Muslims to battle and death. A lot of birds are killed with one stone (several objectives are realized which was the initial plan when Wahhabism was first created!

For non-Muslims, in particular the non-Abrahamic faiths are worried. Whether it is Muslim imperialism that has been launched over 1500 years or the covert Christian created Wahhabi Islamic incursions taking place since the last 276 years, both are worrying issues because these incursions are eating into non-Islamic sacred sites, citadels and violently demanding space manipulating all the secular mantras in use.

Islamic incursions globally

America
·         Omar Ahmad, co-founder of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the top Muslim lobby group in Washington: “Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Quran should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth.”
·         Imam Siraj Wahhaj, director of the Muslim Alliance in North America:“In time, this so-called democracy will crumble, and there will be nothing. And the only thing that will remain will be Islam.”

Europe

·         In 2013, Muslims in Germany demanded Islam be made equal to Christianity
·         Throughout UK and Europe all abandoned Churches are being converted into mosques https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/2761/converting-churches-into-mosques

Asia

·         Using the Rohingyas issue, Muslims are trying to build mosques and enter the hinterland of Buddhist Burma
·         While no non-Muslim can set a foot in Mecca, a mosque has been built 60 metres from Maha Bodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya the sacred place for Buddhists http://wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=24.695685&lon=84.991495&z=18&m=b
·         In Sri Lanka Muslims are demanding mosques be built in close proximity to all the ancient Buddhist temples in the sacred sites

Making matters worse is the political correctness due to largely votebank politics by selfish politicians, NGOs and lobby groups that would do anything for money. Political correctness has virtually invited the enemy to one's door. Many of the brainwashed fundamentalists turn on their masters after realizing they had been used and this kickstarts another opportunity for those profiting from a world in chaos. This sadly is the state of affairs taking place throughout the world.

Muslim silence

There are 1.3billion Muslims globally. Not all are followers of Wahhabism though the increasing numbers of people clad in attire promoted by Wahhabism is an indication that Muslims themselves are ignorant of their faith. It was recently announced that 70% of ISIS recruits did not even have basic knowledge of Islam though they were attacking screaming ‘Allah hu Akbar’.

Of the 1.3billion Muslims, if they do not conform to Islamic imperialistic objectives nor the Christian-led Wahhabi imperialism on behalf of the West, they must come out and be heard. When non-Muslims put forward their fears and express sadness at how Muslims are demanding entry to their sacred sites to build mosques that would disturb their prayers, Muslims must understand and be empathetic and agree to abandon such programs not delay until other ways can be found to carry out the objective.  This is where reciprocity comes into play. What one is not prepared to concede one cannot demand. This is the fundamental logic. However, we do not see that happening making matters all the more confusing.

What non-Abrahamic religions wish to know is are the Muslims victims of Christian-West controlled Wahhabi Islam or are they manipulating the situation by continuing the historical quest for Islamic imperialism (acquiring lands and converting people) while seeking empathy for the West’s attack on Muslims using Wahhabi fundamentalism? Either way non-Abrahamic religions are under threat and worried. Their hinterlands and sacred sites are targets of both Christian-West controlled Wahhabi Islam and Islamic imperialism. Where do we draw the line?

History of 69 years: “India” was created into a single country by the British in 1947

Shenali D Waduge

“India” was ruled by many kings as well as foreign rulers. Some had large empires while some ruled just one city. Even at the height of expansion no dynasty held the entire area that is today called India. ‘India’ was never one single country until the British put all the princely kingdoms and provinces together to create India in 1947. The name ‘India’ cannot be traced in any of the Vedas, Puranas, Itihaasa or even Amarakosa. Whatever the Indian envoy to Sri Lanka says there was never a country called India until the colonial British christened it. Undeniably there are ancient customs, traditions and a rich past that neo-colonial agendas are politically trying to destroy using the very representatives elected to office and this is what Dharmic religions and natives that value them need to take cognisance of.

At the time of independence, the names Bharat, Hindustan, Hind and Bharatbhumi, Bharatvarsha were suggested to be used for the soon to be independent nation – while individually these names connote different meanings, conclusively none stood for the area historically portraying the length, breadth, history, cultures, and unity because at no time were these areas under any one Indian or foreign ruler

The Indian Constitution today, uses both India & Bharath. Neither name guarantees the size of the nation. However, In The Soul of India published in 1911, Bipin Chandra Pal (1858-1932) proclaimed Bharat to be the only real indigenous name for India.

It was during Moghul rule India was called Hindustan. In 1904 Mohammad Iqbal penned his famous patriotic poem in Urdu Hamārā deśa, ‘Our country’ -
Iqbal called the inhabitants of Hindustān by the old appellation Hindī, which signifies ‘Indian’. However, Savarkar by using Hindustan for Hindus omitted Sikhs and Muslims.

During the Constitutional debates to draft the Indian Constitution Seth Govind Das, a Congressman of Kamalapati Tripathi proposed Bharat as it was  ‘befitting our history and our culture’, because it was found in the old Hindu literature, whereas the ‘word India does not occur in our ancient books’.

Hargovind Pant pointed out “this name (India) was given to our country by foreigners who having heard of the riches of this land were tempted towards it and had robbed us of our freedom in order to acquire the wealth of our country. If we, even then, cling to the word ‘India’, it would only show that we are not ashamed of having this insulting word which has been imposed on us by alien rulers. Really, I do not understand why we are accepting this word”

At the other spectrumPandit Balkrishna Sharma (‘United Provinces, General’) went on to say “I hate the word ‘Hindustan’.

What is amply clear is that we have a problem where a group of natives wish to adhere to western model of how Asians should live and function while at the other spectrum the Asians wish to keep their heritage and not have the Abrahamic religions dictate how we should live and think.

In 2004 the Samajwadi Party proposed the usage of the term Bharat only. It was in July 2005 that V. Sundaram, a retired member of the IAS and a freelance journalist declared that ‘Bharat’ be removed from being the name of the nation because it sounded too Hindu. In 2012 Congress MP Shantaram Naik introduced a Bill to the Rajya Sabha to amend Article 1 to replace Bharat with India in the Preamble to the Constitution and rephrase ‘India, that is Bharat’ to Bharat only and substitute Bharat to wherever India is mentioned in the Constitution. In 2015 a public interest litigation was filed in the Supreme Court demanding that India should be renamed as Bharat http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report-india-or-bharat-supreme-court-seeks-response-from-centre-state-governments-2080494

Let us look at the history.

Remains found in the Narmada Valley in central India estimates that people had been living there between 500,000 and 200,000 years ago. The Bronze Age began around 3300 BCE with the early Indus Valley Civilisation – this area covers modern-day India (Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthanprovinces) and Pakistan (Sindh, Punjab, and Balochistan provinces).

The Harappans were the inhabitants of the ancient Indus river valley. Around 1700 BCE most cities were abandoned and civilization declined. The Vedic period started around 1750 BCE to 500BCE. The Aryan society were distinct from the Harappans. Many of the previous small tribal units and chiefdoms began to coalesce into monarchical, state-level polities.

The Kuru kingdom was the first state-level society of the Vedic period. Then came the Panchala& Videha kingdoms (covering Nepal and Bihar). From the sixth centuries BCE to fourth centuries BCE sixteen kingdoms or oligarchic republics (known also as mahajanapada) existed. These 16 kingdoms are mentioned in ancient Buddhist texts like the Anguttara Nikaya that existed prior to the rise of Buddhism. Magadha is one of the 16 kingdoms where Gautama Buddha founder of Buddhism lived, he attained enlightenment in Bodh Gaya, gave his first sermon in Sarnatha and held his first Buddhist Council in Rajagaha.

The Maurya Empire (322–185 BCE) was the first empire to unify India into one state however the Maurya Empire covered only Himalayas in the North, Assam in the East, modern Pakistan to the West upto Hindu Kush mountains in what is today Afghanistan. Modern Odisha (ancient Kalinga) was not covered by Maurya Empire. King Ashoka and Chanakya’s Arthashatra emerged from Mauryan times.

The Kushan kingdom (now Afghanistan) was established in 1stc AD. Kushan kingdom was ended by Persian invaders in 3rd c AD with the rule of the Guptas which came to an end in 5thc AD with arrival of the Huns seizing Kashmir and Punjab.

The first of the major invasions came from Alexander of Macedonia (336 B.C.E.  - 323 B.C.E.) to spread Greek culture.

The Islamic invasions (636 C.E. - 850 C.E.) under Caliph Umar, within four years of Muhammad's death were brutal. French writer François Gautier has said, "The massacres perpetuated by Muslims in India are unparalleled in history, bigger than the Holocaust of the Jews by the Nazis; or the massacre of the Armenians by the Turks; more extensive even than the slaughter of the South American native populations by the invading Spanish and Portuguese."– Islamic rule lasted 1000 years.

Famous Islamic dynasties – Tughlaqs (1320 C.E. - 1412 C. E), the Mughals (1526 C.E. - 1857 C.E) Akbar (1556 AD - 1605 AD) Shah Jahan (1628 AD - 1658 AD) Aurangzeb was the last of the Mughals (1658 AD - 1707 AD) The last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar was imprisoned by the Britishers after the 1857 mutiny.

What is interesting to note is that the Mughals did not invade Nepal, Bhutan, Assam and thus Buddhism survived however under politicized Hindu rule Buddhism has statistically declined. This must be a concern for Sri Lanka’s Buddhists with India’s present overtures to build a mythical Ramayana trail and news of other Indian influenced politically motivated Hindu incursions in Sri Lanka which will all be future threats to the survival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka if not addressed now itself. While the Buddhists empathize with the manner Hindu India is being aggressively subject to evangelization by Western NGOs, we cannot condone the political aspect of Hindu rule that seeks to undermine Sri Lanka’s sovereignty and integrity and directly affecting the Buddhist ethos of the country.

Then came the Portuguese, Dutch and the British.

The Portuguese Vasco da Gama arrived in 1498.  In 1510 Affonso de Albuquerque captured the island of Goa. Rivalry between the Dutch and English resulted in the Dutch East India Company "winning" Southeast Asia and Indonesia and the British East India Company having to settle for "second-best", that is India.

The British East India Company was established under a Royal Charter of Queen Elizabeth I on 31st December 1600 AD. The Company rule commenced in 1757, after the Battle of Plassey. The company began annexing states or forming treaties with limited power to the Indian rulers. In the early 19th century, the territories of these princes accounted for two-thirds of India.

The Company took control of Mysore by defeating Tipu Sultan in 1792 and the Marathas were finally defeated in 1819 AD. By 1850s the company succeeded in establishing power in Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and the east coast. By 1816 it took over Nepal, Sind in 1843, Punjab in 1849 and Burma in 1886.

After the 1857 mutiny the British Crown took direct control over administration from the company. British divided India into 2 parts - British India, directly governed by the British government through provinces (earlier Presidencies of British India) and the Princely states in British India with local ruler or king with honorary titles like Maharaja, Raja, Maharana, Rana, Nizam – but Britain at any time could interfere into the internal affairs of these states.

The Four Grand Divisions of India

§  Bengal Presidency with its capital at Calcutta established 1690.

§  Bombay Presidency with its capital at Bombay in 1687.

§  Madras Presidency with its capital at Madras established 1640 (the presidency included most of southern India, including the whole of the Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh and parts of Odisha, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, and the union territory of Lakshadweep.) In 1950, when the Madras Presidency became Madras State

§  North-Western Provinces with the seat of the Lieutenant-Governor at Agra 1834.

The queen's proclamations of 1858, promised not to extend British territories in India by annexing Princely states. Queen Victoria became Empress of India in 1876. India was officially known after 1876 as the British Indian Empire.

British India in 1910, covered approximately 54% of the area and included over 77% of the population. The term British India also applied to Burma for a shorter time period: starting in 1824, a small part of Burma, and by 1886, almost two thirds of Burma had come under British India. From 1937, Burma was administered as a separate British colony. British India did not apply to Ceylon which was a British Crown Colony. Maldives was a Protectorate.

When the British gave ‘India’ independence in 1947 there were 565 Princely States & 17 Provinces. Upon the Partition of British India into the Dominion of India and Dominion of Pakistan, 11 provinces (Ajmer-Merwara-Kekri, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Bihar, Bombay, Central Provinces and Berar, Coorg, Delhi, Madras, Panth-Piploda, Orissa, and the United Provinces) joined India, 3 (Baluchistan, North-West Frontier and Sindh) joined Pakistan, and 3 (Punjab, Bengal and Assam) were partitioned between India and Pakistan.

Yellow = directly ruled by a colonial administration
Pink = ruled by independent kings with limited sovereignty which was controlled by Britain. These local kings were happy to send their forces to quell rebellions.

Contrary to opinion that Tamil Nadu was never invaded, General Malik Kafur entered Tamil Nadu in 1311. Malik Kafur looted Madurai also and returned north after a few months. He is said to have taken over 90,000 mounds of gold, unspecified numbers of jewelry and famed Pandyan pearls, 23,000 horses and 612 elephants. Thereafter, much of Tamil Nadu became part of Sultan Mohammad-bin-Tughlug's empire of the Delhi Sultanate for a brief period (approximately 1327 to 1335).

Refer Nilakanta Shastri's book "History of South India"& R.C.Majumdar. Romilla Thapar - Early India: From the Origins to AD 1300.

Jawaharlal Nehru said India’s history is a ‘bundle of contradictions held together by strong but invisible threads’, true the landmass has a history covering Indus Valley civilization, vedic period, 16 ‘republics’, foreign conquests by Persians and Greeks, the Mauryan Dynasty thriving under Ashoka the Great, Deccan and South India ruled by Cholas, Cheras, Pandyas, the Gupta Dynasty, migrations from Central Asia & Iran, migration of Zoraastrians (Parsis) Arabs, Mughals, occupation by French, Dutch, Portuguese and British make up many non-indigenous claims to the nation that is Bharat. Yet, what is clear is that the area today known as India christened by colonial British was never the area that came under any Indian dynasty or foreign rulers. Neither did these dynasties call their empires 'India' at any given time.

UN will collapse if Africa and Asia leave – UN wake up!

Shenali D Waduge

There are 193 member nations in the United Nations. African members account for 54 while Asia-Pacific Members account for 53 making 107 out of 193 members belonging to Africa-Asia-Pacific nations. The Latin American & Caribbean Nations too make up 33. Together these 3 blocs account for 140 countries in the UN. However, the hypocrisies and bias inside the UN has come to a stage where the UN has to be told either it reforms or these nations Quit UN. The foxes have no right to protect the chicken coop. If the nations of Africa, Asia and even Latin America unite and threaten to leave the UN, it will automatically collapse. It is time the bullies pulling the strings in the UN are given this message!

We give some examples of the racism, hypocrisy and white rule that pervades the decision-making of the UN.

§  The idea to form the UN came from US and UK following end of World War 2 – US claimed to be neutral but secretly supported UK against Germany & Axis. US then used Japanese attack on Pearl Habor as an excuse to enter the war thereby getting the Allies to accept the Anglo-American Atlantic Charter
§  UN became a tool to control former Western European and American colonies of the Third World.
§  the first two secretaries-general of the UN were from the Western European kingdoms of Norway, and Sweden
§  When Japan proposed the world’s first racial equality clause to be included into the Charter of the League of Nations in 1919, Anglo Saxon countries immediately opposed it
§  US uses its veto against all resolutions against Israel. No other countries have been that lucky!
§  late Sergio Vieira de Mello was pulled out of the Balkans because the Europeans would not accept a non-European as head of the U.N. mission there.
§  Head of the World Bank is always an American
§  Head of the IMF is always an European
§  All the top U.N. posts at the ranks of deputy, under and assistant secretary-general, are within the personal discretion of the Secretary General whose selection is no less controversial – career officials have no place, political appointees do.
§  Top posts at UN are not proportional to the ratio of membership. Even those non-whites appointed are people who are non-white by color only and honored to be more western-thinking and acting than the whites!
§  Almost all the powerful and big-budget senior posts in the Secretariat and in the U.N. system are filled by westerners, including peacekeeping, political and humanitarian affairs, management, development and environment programmes, children’s fund, refugees etc (Ramesh Thakur)
§  Asians contribute about half the U.N.’s total peacekeepers and one-quarter of its regular and peacekeeping budget of which Japan contributes the  bulk – and it is UN peacekeeping Asians who suffer fatalities (how convenient – you pay to die!) Not coincidentally, decades earlier peacekeepers were all westerners. This is just like how military interventions have now been ‘outsourced’ to the jihadists! (Muslims kill Muslims and West takes over the lands Muslim jihadists have secured after killing them thereafter)
§  In the U.N. Secretariat, Asians comprised 17 per cent of senior U.N. staff at the grades of director and above (even though there are 53 Asian members in the UN)
§  Canada and the U.S. had the same number of senior staff in the Secretariat as all of Asia, when they account for 5 per cent and 60 per cent of the world’s population respectively. (Ramesh Thakur)
§  Of the total of 94 special representatives/envoys of the SG, 16 per cent are Asian, 30 per cent African (almost all dealing with African crises), 2 per cent from Latin America and the Caribbean: and 52 per cent from Europe, North America and Australia with nine out of ten of them dealing with non-western and global problems. (Ramesh Thakur)
§  Only the U.N. University is in Asia but only 1 out of the 6 chiefs of the University has been an Asian!
§  Former UNSG Kofi Annan has a history of legitimizing US interventionism - US diplomat Richard Holbrooke, who was one of the central figures involved in the balkanization of Yugoslavia, praised Annan as one of the most supportive figures for Washington’s foreign policy in the Balkans. Annan stands guilty of legitimizing the US-led coup involving Canada and France that removed Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide and allowed UN to occupy Haiti.
§  All of the nations targeted by R2P doctrine are Asian or African nations (developing nations) The Secretary General’s Special Advisor on R2P are either Canadian or American.
§  In 2011, present UNSG Ban Ki-moon took steps to personally lobby and pressure all the countries of the Mediterranean Sea to support Israel and prevent any humanitarian aid from reaching the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip by ship - Ban Ki-moon ignored Tel Aviv’s illegal military blockade of Gaza and its violation of international law.
§  In 2012, Ban Ki-moon also refused to meet the representatives of the families of Palestinian victims and captives inside Israel while he was visiting Gaza. Ki-moon made personal efforts to secure the release of the captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. As a result of Ban Ki-moon’s bias many Palestinians hurled shoes and stones at his UN convoy as it entered the Gaza Strip – Neither Ban Ki Moon, Kofi Annan nor UNHRC heads have visited or spoken to any of the victims of LTTE terrorism in Sri Lanka either. They only have time to speak to LTTE families and LTTE cadres and send condolence messages to dead LTTErs (Kofi Annans condolence message to dead LTTE Kaushalyan)
§  In regards to both Libya and Syria, Ban Ki-moon has followed the US and NATO script for R2P and regime change.
§  Jeffrey Feltman’s appointment as the UN under secretary-general for political affairs by Ban Ki-moon shows just how much control Washington has over the UN Secretariat.
§  UN has a Christian agenda - More than 70% religious non-government organisations (NGOs) at the UN are Christian and questions whether Christian cults and lobbies are influencing UN decision making
§  A special place is given to Roman Catholic religion - The Vatican enjoys a special observer status, as a state and religion
§  Civil society organizations in the UN are mostly Catholic and these exert influence over UN diplomats.
§  Muslim NGOs are represented through the collective of states in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation– Hindus and Buddhists have no representation
§  The Internaitonal Criminal Court has been accused of targeting only African nations and completely omitting from investigating the nations that had been covertly involved in the crisis that prevails African nations including the break up of Yugoslavia where it has now emerged that the late Serbian head Milosevic has been declared innocent of committing war crimes though the entire western propaganda and UN machinery accused him of being a war criminal. African Union has accused the ICC of hyposcrisy and double standards and has threatened to leave.
§  The UNHRC has been another inquisitorial tool of Western bloc nations where none of West’s crimes have resolutions against them but the West bloc nations are happily drafting resolutions against targeted nations and UN oficials are happy to comply. Sri Lanka’s case is a special example of how even after a conflict has ended a precedence is being created by a plethora of illegalities and irregularities blatantly violating the spirit of the UN and the UN Charter
§  Iraq war was illegal – UN was complicit
§  UN sanctions against Iraq caused a human disaster plus UN officials were accused of kickbacks. Hans Christof von Sponeck, the former assistant secretary-general of the UN resigned in March 2000 in protest against the sanctions. http://www.globalresearch.ca/united-nations-complicity-in-war-crimes/5170
§  UN Nuclear non-proliferation treaty are used to ensure the domination of certain powers and to threaten others
§  UN has failed Afghanistan, Iraq, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Korea, Laos, Nepal, Angola, Rwanda, Chad, Congo, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Grenada, Cuba, Guatemala, Haiti, Iran, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Philippines, Sudan, Vietnam, Libya and now Syria… including Sri Lanka in siding with terrorists and not the victims.

James Lucas writing to the GlobalResearch has given with examples 37 victim nations of US imperialism since 1945 and an estimated death of 20million people and counting. A UN and UNHRC demanding accountability from other nations completely ignores demanding accountability for all of the West’s imperial agendas and regime change that has led to assassinations, ousting of democratically elected leaders, funding of regime change, funding local lackeys and spearheading CHANGE covert operations and putting puppets as Presidents thereby undermining the entire governing systems of countries. If a UN has no mechanism to take action against these system abuses into which human smuggling, narcotics, illegal arms supply and even terrorism are intertwined is there really any use in having a world body claiming to be ushering peace? We have not solved, world hunger, we have not solved world disease, we have not solved world illiteracy and the world is become more violent by the day.

It is seriously time to Quit UN if the UN does not stop its hypocrisies, bias, racism and inequalities against the developing world.

The Philippine President has come forward with the solution “‘I don't give a sh*t about them’ and threatens to leave ‘stupid UN’. its about time other nations start thinking of doing the same.

ICC: Destroying shrines is a war crime – Sinhala Buddhists must showcase the war crimes committed by LTTE-TNA & Muslim fundamentalists

Shenali D Waduge

The International Criminal Court has charged Ahmad al-Faqi al-Mahdi of war crimes for the destruction of cultural heritage in Mali in 2012 declared World Heritage sites by UNESCO. On 20 July 1983 the late Cyril Mathew sent a comprehensive report to UNESCO to safeguard and preserve the cultural property in Sri Lanka endangered by racial prejudice, unlawful occupation or wilful destruction. That report covered only a handful of sites that had been subject to rape by parties and individuals attempting to eliminate evidence of Sinhala Buddhist occupation in the North and East and replace with Hindu, Christian/Catholic & Islamic new sites and claim them to be their heritage sites manipulating political correctness, and riding on the bogey of multiculturalism and reconciliation. Such treachery needs to be exposed and the real heritage sites needs to be identified and protected.

There are some key factors to take note of.

The Sinhala Buddhist heritage sites has been target of destruction by Indian invaders, colonial occupiers (Portuguese, Dutch and British & the Church) LTTE-TNA and now Muslim fundamentalists. That historical objective has continued with the modus operandi only changing.

All the while attempts have been made to wipe out the Sinhala Buddhist history of Sri Lanka, denationalize the people of their historical roots and memories and craftily remove Sinhala Buddhist culture, events, traditions etc. An excellent example is the well-funded campaign out to stop the Dalada Perahera by creating a notion of cruelty to elephants while the same activists are stoic silent on animal sacrifice/ritual sacrifice and animal killing and other forms of animal cruelty. Their campaign is only surrounded around stopping the perahera and using the elephant as the scapegoat.

Whether it is the Tamil vellalas, the LTTE or their political arm the TNA, the quest has been to claim a tract of land as their own for which they had been moving earth and heaven. Just because some loose cannon politicians and paid activists claim homelands without historical basis an island nation cannot be separated. This is what foreign envoys, the UNSG, the UNHRC head and even the Western Bloc nations needs to realize and understand. Cross examination of all homeland claims only lead back to Tamil Nadu and ascertains the false notions at play.

With no historical evidence to prove that Tamil language, Tamil people, heritage originated and evolved in Sri Lanka’s north or even east, given the heavy evidence to showcase the Tamil Nadu links to Sri Lankan Tamils the next option was to generate a hyped propaganda of lies and deception through falsified ‘history’ and by attempting to destroy, ruin and deface the artefacts in the North and East of Sri Lanka by Tamil vellalas, TNA-LTTE, the Church-NGOs and Muslim fundamentalists.

In the case of Muslims, who first arrived as traders and were treated as aliens by the Sinhale kings and the colonials initially began trading in coastal areas and were allowed to live as guests though they did not have land rights till after 1800s, therefore they cannot claim any historical area as being their heritage sites given that land rights were not given to them prior to this period. Technically only claims after land rights have been given to Muslims are valid. However, there is much contention with Muslims claiming Buddhist heritage sites to be ‘theirs’ and using media and churning incidents in their favour to win over political correctness and thus ‘secure’ these Buddhist heritage sites as theirs. We can give examples of Kuragala, Muhudumahavihara, Dambulla and a pattern now to claim sites close to all Buddhist heritage sites as a means to surround Buddhist sites and create animosity.

In 1932 Charles Collins the British Civil Servant and GA for Ratnapura in his “The Archaeology of Sabaragamuwa, Bintenna” makes note of 7 places - Budu-gala, Kura-gala, Diyainna, Handa-giriya, Kottimbul-wala, Sankha-pala Vihare in Pallebedda and Galpaya tracing inscription to second century B.C http://ratnawalli.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/The-Archaeology-of-the-Sabaragamuwa-Bintenna..pdf please read http://ratnawalli.blogspot.com/2014/03/kuragala-lessons-fighting-with-honour.html

What is important and has to be reiterated is that incursions have a history. Territories and lands have been confiscated and taken by force with the use of the sword through history and people have been converted with death threats. This is how Islam and Christianity/Catholicism has increased globally. In the modern era, in lieu of swords have been at the extreme end terrorism and at the other more sophisticated end the manipulation of multiculturalism and reconciliation using NGOs and other sophisticated methods all of which have demanded that Buddhists keep quiet while their heritage sites are usurped and replaced with others. Objections by Buddhists is declared as going against reconciliation and multiculturalism and voicing these objections are promoted as racism and those flagging the wrongs are branded as fascists, fundamentalists, radicals and whatever name they can concoct to ridicule the messenger whereby the aim is to dilute and conceal the message.

While Cyril Mathew boldly generated a report with facts, figures and images and sent to UNESCO the present day incursions, destructions and incursions upon Buddhist heritage sites are available and now need to be collected, compiled and correlated to demand that no individual, group or politicians can eliminate or destroy ancient heritage as by virtue of the ICC judgement these are now construed as war crimes.

Moreover, political parties and politicians must be told to desist from using their office to be influenced into allowing incursions by non-Buddhists into Buddhist heritage sites and build new religious sites which lay the foundations for animosities when they demand that their new construction be given prominence over the ancient site. There is a pattern to all these incursions and this needs to be clearly exposed.

The Buddhist organizations must establish a website where they can upload all these incursions so that the truth can be made public as against the falsehoods that are being promoted because money and power & mode of communications are vested in non-Buddhists clearly signalling in imbalance and injustice.

To protect our heritage we must assert our rights. In not asserting our rights we forfeit our right to demand justice and in so doing we will lose what our ancestors had toiled to erect and protect to pass on to us to also protect and preserve. It is our duty and we must do justice to what has been passed down from history. Such magnificent and ancient past that goes back centuries before Christ cannot be replicated even with modern technology which is why anyone attempting to destroy or deface and replace them should be treated as war criminals and the offence a war crime.

When Will The Tamil Leaders Let Jaffna Rest In Peace?

By H. L. D. Mahindapala

I am neither surprised, nor overly worried about the Tamil students of the Jaffna University beating the Sinhala students. Intermittent inter-ethnic conflicts in various locations have occurred in the past and will continue to happen in the foreseeable future which is, hopefully, transiting from Nandikadal to a more rational and settled period of race relations. Of course, it all depends on whether the current indicators, which are seminal, would turn into a consolidated and irreversible trend.

What is disconcerting, however, is the fact that the violence of the Jaffna students had taken place at a time when the usual litany of complaints, starting from “1956” to “1983”, have receded into the depths of healing time. The unwanted violence unleashed by the Tamil undergrads had exploded just when the political climate has begun to change, though tardily, to ease tensions and resolve issues within the framework established under the Yahapalanaya regime – a regime, mark you, enthroned by the Tamils, the Muslims and the NGOs and their masters in West. This makes any Tamil violence counter-productive. They will be putting their own security and future at risk if they revert to violence again. Besides, at a time when the international community is ganging up against terrorist violence as never before – and the violent Tamils are still on the international list of terrorists – any violence raising its menacing head in Jaffna will have a hard time in convincing the world that they are the victims of a democratically elected state allied to the West.

In the latest outburst of violence there is some consolation in the fact that the Tamil student leader was caught by the cameras wielding only a solid piece of wood and not a kalashnikov. There were also heartening and spontaneous efforts made from both sides to douse the flames of wrath. In a calculated move the state has played down the import of violence which is commendable. However, in dismissing the campus rumpus as another one of those passing events, it should not be forgotten that the violence has its roots in the indigenous Tamil political culture to exclude non-Tamils from the Jaffna. The campus violence cannot be dismissed as a sporadic outburst of some misguided students. What took place in Jaffna campus is a part of the political culture that has dominated Jaffna in the post-independent era.

In many ways this incident fits into the Jaffna-centric violence driven by their political obsession to preserve Jaffna as the exclusive domain of the Tamils. It is another episode in the recurring criminal chain of ethnic cleansing to keep the Muslims and the Sinhalese out of Jaffna. It is the latest manifestation of the Tamil propensity for mono-ethnic politics. It is also a micro-mini replay of the Vadukoddai violence that was aimed at carving out a racist state for Tamils only. In fact, the language used to excuse Tamil violence in the Jaffna campus echoes the Vadukoddian slogans of “demographic colonisation”, “the primacy of Buddhism”, cultural invasions and even the “vamsa chronicles”, etc. Recycling the Vadukoddai slogans is another way of reviving the anti-Sinhala-Buddhist racism that dragged Jaffna all the way to Nandikadal.

The overwhelming post-Independent streak of Jaffna reveals that the North has lived ONLY (emphasis is mine) by the sword of anti-Sinhala-Buddhist racism. There was no space either in the feudal fascist-casteist (Vellahla) phase, or in its morphed manifestation of fascist—Prabhakaranist tyranny – the only two dynamics that dominated Jaffna — for liberal, democratic, socialist or humanistic politics. The closed society of Jaffna resisted the liberal and pluralistic winds of change that swept the south. Behind the ubiquitous cadjan curtain there was space only for authoritarian cults of fascist casteism or fascist Prabhakaranism. Both cults ruled Jaffna with an iron fist, denying the hapless Jaffna Tamils even the right to walk in the sun. The arrogant leadership of Jaffna always assumed that they knew what was best for their people and led them by their noses to Nandikadal. In the end the leadership of both cults paid with their lives for their arrogance and folly.

There is no one else to blame except the narrow-minded, short-sighted but cocky leaders of Jaffna who overestimated their power and, consequently misled themselves and the people, missing the best opportunities of power sharing that came their way, with international guarantees. When the end came they had no one else to blame except their own arrogance and stupidity. With no one else to blame in the last days the Tamil leadership turned on the Tamils. They blamed the Tamils who were deserting them in droves and running into the shelters provided by the vilified Armed forces. The immorality of Tamils killing Tamils, even when they were fleeing in the hope of finding safer alternatives, reflects the ruthless and obscene politics ingrained in the political culture of Jaffna.

Throughout its history Jaffna politics was driven by hate politics. The Vellahla leadership that steered peninsular politics justified their hate of low-castes with Hindu dogmas revised by Arumuka Navalar, the revisionist who elevated sudra farmers (Vellahlas) to the status of Brahmins in Jaffna. Under the cover of Navalar’s Saivite sanctions, the Vellahla elite oppressed the imported Tamil slaves and the low-castes as if they were a breed of beasts not fit for human society. In the post independent period they diverted their hate politics towards the Sinhala-Buddhist of the south. The Vellahlas maintained their grip on power in the peninsula by stoking hate politics against these two sectors. The Tamil leadership waged wars against both.

Tamil spiritual and secular leaders joined hands to keep the fires of hate politics burning. Arumuka Navalar, the greatest religious icon of the Vellahlas, led attacks on the low-caste schools to prevent them from coming up. Even their revered leader Sir. Ponnambalam Ramanathan did his utmost to retain the oppressive caste system. In the twenties he went to London on a special mission to legitimise the casteist system. In the sixties, Prof. C. Sutheralingam, the caste fanatic, made a desperate bid at Maviddipuram Temple to keep the low-castes out of the sacred premises.

According to Prof. Bryan Pfaffenberger the Tamils hated S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike not because of the Sinhala Only Act, though it was there in the background, but because of the Prevention of Social Disabilities Act which was aimed at dismantling the pernicious caste system. Language was to protect government jobs. But the attack on the caste system was to threaten the entire way of life that was sacred to the Vellahlas. When the Vellahla leadership switched their anti-low-caste politics to the Sinhala-Buddhists in the post-independent phase they were making their last stand to save their feudalistic and colonial powers and privileges. The hidden agenda in the Vadukoddai Resolution was to protect and maintain the Vellahla supremacy at any cost. And when they declared war against the Sinhala-Buddhists at Vadukoddai it was the last throw of their political dice. It was their biggest gamble.

It can also be argued that they were pushed into the Vadukoddai War by the anti-Sinhala-Buddhist mania generated by them in the post-independent era, with promises of a Tamil Eelam. Over the years it gathered a momentum of its own, raising unattainable expectations. They had steered post-independent politics demonising the Sinhala-Buddhists which left no room for compromise. Besides, with S. J. V. Chelvanayakam’s “little now and more later” tactics he was dragging peninsular politics, step by step, to the bitter end of mono-ethnic extremism. Tamil expectations had reached the giddy limit by 1976. At this point the Northern leadership was in a dither unable to deliver their promises. They were hoisted by their own petard. The disillusioned Tamil youth, partly influenced by the JVP youth and partly by Southern missteps, were at their throats demanding solutions. The desperate Tamil leadership rushed to pass the Vadukoddai Resolution, declaring war, as a politically expedient move to get out of their predicament. The Tamil leadership legitimised violence and opted for a military solution, abandoning the democratic mainstream. The ageing leadership urged the Tamil youth to wage the Vadukoddai war against the demonised Sinhala bogeyman. The Vellahlas were hoping to ride into power on the backs of the misguided Tamil youth drawn from the low-castes mainly. The Vellahlas youth went abroad with their parents to pursue careers in middle-class professions.

The Tamil leadership went as far as they could, living on anti-Sinhala-Buddhist hatred. Inside Jaffna, they defeated their Tamil rivals in electoral politics by pursuing hate politics that demonised the Sinhala-Buddhists. Any attempts to co-exist in a multicultural, pluralistic society was anathema. Those who were inclined to co-exist were stigmatised as “collaborators”. Competing Tamil parties scored electoral victories by wielding the sword of Sinhala-Buddhist hatred. The Biblical judgment that condemns those who live by the sword came down decisively to crush their arrogance and bitterness at Nandikadal. For a while, before the fall at Nandikadal, there were ample opportunities for the Tamil leadership to negotiate a peace deal with honour. But the hatred of Sinhala-Buddhist blinded them to the new possibilities. The Tamil leadership chose to live by the sword of hate. In the end they died by the sword of hate.

What is ominous in the latest Jaffna outburst of violence is the re-birth of the venomous hatred that led to Nandikadal. Hate was written all over the faces of Tamil students wielding their home-made weapons. Though the latest Jaffna incident can be dismissed as a manageable aberration, it nevertheless signals dangerously that Jaffna is ever ready to revert to Vadukoddian violence on the slightest pretext. And, as will be shown in due course, there are rabid elements waiting for an opportunity to exploit the ingrained strain of anti-Sinhala-Buddhist racism for their own profit and glory.

In a febrile attempt to explain the campus violence the NGO and other assorted pundits have rushed to recycle the hacked theories that led to the futile Vadukoddai war. The latest theoretical construction claims that too many Sinhalese students have been sponsored by the state to occupy academic places in the exclusive homeland of Tamils and, what is more, they are manipulated by the Army and the state to enforce”cultural colonisation”. Predictably, Jehan Perera is in the forefront of this propaganda campaign to demonise the Sinhala-Buddhists and white-wash the Tamil violence.

His theoretical jiggery-pokery has been consistently to keep the fires of anti-Sinhala-Buddhist hatred smouldering. Throughout the longest war in Asia he not only sided with the Tamil Pol Pot but even went to the extraordinary extent of conferring the Pol Potist ideologue, Anton Balasingham, the Tamil translator at the British High Commission, with a doctorate which he knew was a lie. Now that “Dr.” Balasingham and his master are no longer there he has thrown his weight behind V. Wigneswaran, the Chief Minister of the northern province, who is making a strenuous bid to take the place of Velupillai Prabhakaran, dressed not in military fatigues but in symbolic and ritualistic Hindu garb, with an unmistakeable dash of holy ash splashed right across his forehead. This symbolism, unfortunately, is not a soothing display of spirituality. Rather, it represents militant Hindu fascism.
Falling in line more with the extreme politics of the Tamil “Surya Devan”, Wigneswaran’s political conduct indicates that he is bent on keeping peninsular politics tied intransigently (Surprise! Surprise!) to the extreme end of Hindu-Tamil racism. His egregious resolution branding all Sinhala leaders as “genocidal” killers of Tamils, his prickly relations with the TNA which is, at least, making a show of wanting to find accommodation with the Sri Lanka state, his role as the Abominable Tamil Showman attempting to fill the vacuum left by his Surya Devan, his demand for a disproportionate share of power bordering on a separate state, his latest resolution on Jaffna violence in which he raises the evil ghosts of the destructive Vadukoddai Resolution etc., reveal his ineradicable mono-ethnic extremism. Apart from adding Prabhakaran to his political pantheon, he is also known to be a devotee of Swamy Premananda who was convicted of raping 13 girls and also murder in India. Using his judicial credentials, he pleaded with the Indian Prime Minister to pardon Swamy Premananda which, of course, was rejected.the fall

It is also well known that Wigneswaran is allied to Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) of India – an extreme, right-wing, anti-Muslim political organisation that spits racial hatred, provoking inter-ethnic violence. VHP programme is to cleanse India of Muslims. It is not surprising, therefore, to find Wigneswaram participating in VHP platforms in Delhi and urging Indian Hindus to lead a pan-Hindu regional front to protect Hindus. He is noted among the Muslims of Jaffna for marginalising Muslims, almost treating them a non-persons. Despite Muslims of Jaffna raising issues of education, health and welfare with him, he has turned a deaf ear, refusing to give them even a hearing.

Painting a dismal picture of Jaffna under Wigneswaran’s rule, Prof. Rajan Hoole states: “Hindu nationalism, already a festering phenomenon in Tamil run institutions, particularly in Jaffna University, attained a more open manifestation in the form of the northern province chief minister, C.V. Wigneswaran. His rise to power in 2013 signified a deep rot and was a sign of things to come.” As in the south, the rot in Jaffna begins at the top. Wigneswaran represents the worst elements of the hate politics of Jaffna. He wriggles like the worm in the pus that oozes out of the incurable hate politics of Jaffna. But what is most depressing is the rot that is eating into the Jaffna University. Of the 17 universities it is the most scandal-ridden tertiary institution. Academics giving an “A” for a lay has sullied its integrity. Jockeying for academic positions, unqualified hacks getting promoted over the qualified, and funds flowing into private pockets are unacceptable in a community that reveres education on the same plane as Ganesh – the God of knowledge. Dr. Noel Nadesan, the Tamil expatriate journalist and activist of Melbourne who was targeted by the LTTE, wrote after his latest visit to Jaffna : “The most essential elements lacking in the North are moral, social and political leadership. The Jaffna university incident has been the clearest example of failed leadership.”

There is a growing awareness among the Tamil intellectuals now of the failure of the Tamil leadership. The absence of a genuine leadership that can think out of the racist box and move forward to a more pragmatic phase of peaceful co-existence continues to plague peninsular politics. The silver lining among the dark clouds over Jaffna, however, is the opening up of free space in the post-Prabhakaran period for the Tamils to engage in reappraising their past. But no new thinking has emerged to re-evaluate the hate-filled politics of the past. Nor has a new leadership emerged to take Jaffna out of the pit into it has fallen.

Getting out of this plight is not easy. The atavistic pull of the racist past is ingrained in peninsular politics. If you remove Sinhala-Buddhism from their agenda they have nothing to go on. Wigneswaran represents this menacing force. It is the racist extremism, currently spearheaded by Wigneswaran, that will be the biggest stumbling bloc to any future reconciliation. Reconciliation demands moving away from the Tamil intransigence of the past and advancing closer to multi-ethnic co-existence within the natural boundaries of the nation. The Northern leadership threw all what they had, including children, to pursue their elusive goal of Eelam. And they failed. Unfortunately, there are no signs that their tragic history has taught them any lesson as a guide for their future.
Northern obsession with power politics at the expense of all other existential considerations dragged the Tamils to depths of a bloody hell. Prabhakaran personified this megalomania. The power he acquired did not save the Tamils. Under him the Tamils were subject to abject servility with no dignity or self-respect. The vast mass of Tamils of all ages – from school children to the aged – were forced to serve him obediently, on their knees. Of course, the apparatchiks who were a part of the oppressive one-man regime were pleased. But the others were waiting for an opportunity to escape. When the end came they voted with their feet to escape the Prabhakaranist gulag.

It is the vilified Sinhala-Buddhists and their Forces that lifted the Jaffna Tamils from the misery of the war declared by their leaders. Their leaders financed the war. They directed the war. They mobilized the forces for the war. And when the end came where were the Tamil heroes to serve the needs of the abandoned Tamils? The money that flowed from the Tamil Diaspora to kill the Tamils suddenly stopped. There was no money to build peace for Tamils. There was money only to kill Tamils.

The award-winning French film Dheepancaptures the plight of the Tamils who were trapped in the Vadukoddai war. In one critical scene, Dheepan, who escapes the LTTE violence, is confronted in France by a war-mongering agent collecting money to buy arms. Dheepan says he has given up fighting. He is thrown to the ground and kicked for refusing to contribute money that goes to kill the Tamils. He survives. The film ends with Dheepan settling down in his new home in France, surrounded by multi-ethnic families. He finds peace only in a home away from home, far, far way from his fellow-Tamils killing each other.

Dheepan is fed up of fighting. He wants to lead a normal life. Politics has not taken him anywhere. Is there any point in chasing a mythical homeland that can’t give Tamils their peace? Dheepan settles for peace and normal family life. He has stopped chasing illusions of homeland that bleeds everyone to death.

Dheepan symbolises the life experienced by Tamils trapped in the violence and hate engineered by their leaders. His life experiences confirm that Tamils have lost their capacity to find peace among his own Tamil community, whether in Jaffna or France. Isn’t the violent outburst in the Jaffna campus another sign of the inability of Jaffna Tamils to find peace? Isn’t this innate and chronic violent culture of Jaffna a threat to all communities – most of all to the Jaffna Tamils? Does this mean that they are doomed to live in perpetual anger and hatred of their non-Tamil neighbours? Is Dheepan saying that there is peace and happiness in a non-violent home abroad than in their violent homeland?

The Tamil leaders have shown their capacity to lead the Tamils to Vadukoddai and Nandikadal. But can they lead the Tamils to live in peace without killing each other?

After dragging the Tamil people into a futile 33-year-old war the Tamil leadership owes it to the Tamil people to lead them into a safe haven of peace. Blaming the Sinhala-Buddhists is no longer the solution. They tried that trick long enough and failed. It is time they took responsibility for their stupidity that led them to Nandikadal. It is time they opened their eyes and, for the sake of the war-weary people of Jaffna, committed themselves genuinely for peace and reconciliation. The Tamil people deserve a future without Tamil Pol Pots and Boko Harams. They deserve a future that will save them from their Tamil saviours who had led them so far only into death, destruction and despair.

His Excellency Atul Keshap
U S Ambassador to Sri Lanka
U S Embassy
Colombo.

Your Excellency,

The Office of Missing Persons Act (OMP)

The above act was passed controversially in the Sri Lankan Parliament amidst huge public protest. However, it was observed that Your Excellency was the first person representing the United States of America, to congratulate the Ranil Wickramasinghe government, stating that it was an historic milestone in the path towards national reconciliation for all in Sri Lanka. The next one to congratulate was, the Global Tamil Forum, which was banned under UN charter 1373 for directly supporting the LTTE terrorist organization.

The “National War Heroes Front” was formed to ensure proper welfare of the Armed Forces Personnel who were wounded in action, family members of the persons who were killed in action and all the servicemen who have served to safeguard the Territorial integrity of the country.

Another important objective of our Front is to ensure the Unitary Stature of the country for which, our servicemen have made their supreme sacrifice. As you may be aware, 29,000 servicemen died and 14,000 were fatally wounded / disabled in fighting the LTTE terrorist organization, which your country, the USA, has categorized as the most ruthless terrorist organization in the world and remains banned by your country since 1997.

The LTTE was fighting for a separate state in the North and resorted to brutal atrocities against  innocent civilians including Tamils. Thus, the victory over 3 decades of Terrorism was welcomed by all the communities in the country except of course those who had been indirectly / directly supporting LTTE.

The USA has also experienced terrorism. Terrorism comes in all forms. However, massacre of innocent civilians to achieve political aim is unjustifiable. The US declared ‘War on Terror’ following 9/11 massacre of innocent civilians. Just like the US troops were ordered to eliminate Al Qaeda and its leader Osama bin Laden, Sri Lanka’s forces were commanded to end LTTE and leader Prabakaran.

Against the unproven and unsubstantiated claims of 40,000 to 100,000 or more being killed by the Sri Lankan Troops, the Sri Lankan Troops can showcase how they physically saved close to 300,000 Tamils some of whom were LTTE cadres in civil. Twelve thousand  LTTE cadres in civilian clothing also surrendered and subsequently rehabilitated and released. . In spite of a Presidential Commission of Missing Persons being established none of those making the allegations of 40,000 being killed have lodged names or details of the supposed dead.

Your Excellency, it is wrong to put terrorists on par with a nation’s army. Would the US military like to be placed on par and treated equally with Al Qaeda, ISIS, Boko Haram terrorists? Is it correct to give compensation to the very people who took up arms to kill and caused so much suffering, pain when the victims are still nursing their injuries? Would it not be a slap to all US servicemen who sacrificed their lives if US were to allow the Al Qaeda to commemorate their dead and hold memorials for Osama bin Laden and other jihadists in the United States?

Will US Congress submit a Bill allowing an Office of Missing Persons wherein those that have links to Al Qaeda NGOs will sit as officials and manipulate evidence to incriminate US service personnel via documentaries / reports / videos and anonymous witness accounts which denies cross examination by the US service personnel? Can you just imagine a situation where a powerful country’s Ambassador to USA bringing a medical team from his country and trying to medically examine some of the terrorists detained in alleged to have poisoned by the US troops whilst in the camp?    US Servicemen & their families do not like to be humiliated. Sri Lanka’s Armed Forces & their families do not like to be humiliated either.

Your Excellency, the Sri Lankan troops fought LTTE terrorists just as the US troops fighting terrorism now. If there have been excesses, there are prevailing laws in the country to charge individual soldiers just as is being done in the US.

The OMP Bill, on the pretext of finding the ‘missing’, is in reality placing terrorists on par with a nation’s armed forces whilst giving sweeping powers to the office which cannot be questioned even by Right to Information Act or the country’s judiciary.

Your Excellency, please remember terrorism is no more local or regional but global and transnational. My terrorist today may be your terrorist tomorrow. For this reason there has to be a concise and a concerted effort on the part of the international community to address this menace.

Hence, in that spirit, I very respectfully request your Excellency to relook at the OMP Bill. The US Government claims to uphold the wishes of the populace. Public opinion is against the OMP Bill for the reasons mentioned above and it is the US Government that must resonate the wishes of the People of Sri Lanka and not those of terrorists.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely,

Rear Admiral ( Dr.) Sarath Weerasekera VSV, RWP, USP

Sri Lanka only country in the world where “Genocide of Tamils” increases Tamil population!

 Shenali D Waduge

Isnt this baffling? Sri Lanka is accused of committing genocide, plenty of propaganda is being paid for to showcase this but no one seems to be bothered to look at the statistics and ask ‘how can genocide take place while Tamil population is increasing?” A lot of people have landed in a soup associating themselves with the 40,000 or more genocide claim. Pressed to show evidence they have only paid propaganda and nothing else. However, what needs to be reiterated is that war crimes tribunals can be considered if and only if there is a semblance of truth to the claim of 40,000 dead (being killed)…even that looks quite remote now. Therefore, the GOSL must not allow the UNSG to wriggle in another joint statement that would create plethora of problems for the country. At the other end without any uniform global census mechanism countries are clueless about the numbers of Tamil migrants who have gained entry as asylum/refugees, political refugees, official migration schemes, origins of naturalized citizens/green card holders etc. So we do not know how many Tamils/LTTE have left the country legally or even illegally and none of the countries they are in can give correct figures either. However, what we can confirm is that the numbers that Tamil diaspora are dabbling in and the numbers claimed as ‘genocide’ figures are absolutely bogus and nothing but propaganda. Tamil population

What is clear from historical evidence is that at no time was there any exclusive Tamil territory and more importantly there is nothing to show for Tamils as an ethnic group evolving in Sri Lanka.

However, there is enough and more evidence to show how South Indians travelled to the island nation and settled down at various time periods. The colonial invaders have confused the situation by lumping the Tamils whom they brought from South India as virtual slaves and laborers with those who had come during various invasions and settled down and their children born in the island. This cannot deny that their roots continue to be South India. From the census taken by the colonial occupiers it is very clear that they did not differentiate South Indians from the Tamils in Sri Lanka and it took a Tamil to separate the two in 1911 at which time for the first time the census created Ceylon Tamils.

Claims of genocide is serious but it must have evidence. South Indian invaders committed genocide of humans as well as cultural genocide in particular Sena & Guttika who invaded, killed and ruled for 22 years. The colonials not only invaded and killed they converted natives by force and created systems to divide and rule. Much of the terminologies in vogue were created by these Europeans. The context they use caste was different to what was used by the natives. Minority and Majority, secular, multicultural terms are also creations of Europeans.

However no claims of genocide can hold water unless it matches with the births, deaths and migration statistics (migration to Colombo and other parts of Sri Lanka and migration overseas legally as well as asylum/refugee seekers and economic migrants). Over and above this is the need to know how many Indians have illegally come and settled down in Sri Lanka and how many of their progeny now go as Sri Lankan Tamils without legal basis! It is also crucial to know how many Indians fought as LTTE cadres as LTTE’s Tamilselvan claimed 33% of their cadres were from Tamil Nadu.

Let’s look at some historical facts

Sri Lanka is an island nation. The Palk Strait that divides Sri Lanka from India is just 33miles. There has been 17 invasions by South Indians Tamil/Dravidians since 230 BCE who had ruled the island at different spells for 170 years (Daya Hewapathirane). We do not know how many came or eventually settled but we do know that they ransacked, destroyed and killed Sinhalese upon their invasion.

We do not know the population of Sinhale nation under the Sinhalese kings but ancient ola manuscripts kept in the temple town of Tissawa in seven Korale’s claim a population of 70.5million. While the ancient chronicle Mahavamsa records 3000 Buddhist priests in 300BC, 40,000 army during King Devanampiyatissa’s rule, 100,000 Buddhist priests in 150BC, 90,000 Buddhist nuns also during the same period and 60,000 army during King Dutugemnu’s rule. The Pujaveliya records 2,125,000 army during King Parakramabahu’s rule in 1170AD while the Rajavaliya records 1,470,000 Sinhale army in 1300 AD. What we can deduce from these numbers of Buddhist priests and Sinhale armies as well as the remnants of the stupas, irrigation works, large dagobas etc is that the population under the Sinhale kings would have exceeded the numbers before the massacres by the invaders and the census statistics taken by them years later (South Indian and the 3 colonial powers)

What needs to be remembered in no uncertain terms is that the population of Sri Lanka was predominantly Sinhalese.

Northern Province Population

§  P E Pieris puts the Jaffna population at 120,000 in 1505 while his estimate for population in Galle and Colombo alone did not exceed 350,000 in 1505.

§  Michael Roberts puts the total Sinhalese population in the mid-seventeenth century in the region of 550,000 to 600,000.

§  The Portuguese did not conduct any census

§  The Dutch placed the maritime population at 817,000.

§  Anthony Bertolaccai claimed the maritime populace to be 700,000 in 1809 and a guestimate of 1.5m total population. It was probably a result of the famine that struck the coastal areas in 1811-1813 that resulted in population decreasing to 492,000 in 1814 when the British conducted a census.

§  Pieter van Dam, a VOC lawyer, suggested that the total population of the Maritime Provinces in 1684 was around 278,789. What is interesting is that they had managed to covert between 180,364 -261,600 to Christianity.

§  By late 17th century Christians in Jaffna numbered 155,592 (100%) which means entire area had been converted. (N R Sarkar)

§  The first census of the whole island by the British in 1827 gave a population of 889,584

§  P E Pieris says the population in Jaffna in 1505 was 120,000

§  Sinnappah Arasaratnam claims that the 1st Dutch commandant of Jaffna Commandment after Dutch conquest in 1658 also put population of Jaffna at 120,000. He also states that a census in 1680s puts the total population of Jaffna at 169,299 and another in mid 18th century at 187,599.

According to the SL Government Population & Housing Census

1971

Census of the Population of Sri Lanka was taken on 9th October1971. file:///C:/Users/TOSHIBA/Downloads/Census1971_Rep001.pdf

The term ethnic group was introduced at the Census of 1963 previously ‘race’ was used. The term nationality was used in the censuses upto 1901. It was only after 1911 that Tamils were divided as Ceylon Tamils & Indian Tamils. Prior to 1953 there were more Indian Tamils than Sri Lanka Tamils in the country. In 1971, 99.2% of the aliens were citizens of India

In 1971, nearly 21% of the island's population lived in the Colombo district

Nearly 50% of the island population lived in the 5 districts of Colombo, Kandy, Kurunegala & Kalutara whose combined area constituted 19.4% of the total land area in Sri Lanka.

In 1971 Tamil comprised 11.9% of Colombo population.

Total population = 12,689,897

Sinhalese = 9,131,200

Tamils =  2,598.600 (Sri Lankan and Indian Tamils)

Total Tamil population

1881 - 687.200 (Indian and SL Tamils)

1971 – 2,598,600 (Indian & SL Tamils)

1911 -  528,000 (as Ceylon Tamils)

1911 – 531,000 (Indian Tamils)

1981

Sri Lanka dept of Census.

2001 – estimated data

Estimated Northern Province population 2001 = 889,387

The estimated population of Mullaitivu district is 121,667 and it is the district with lowest population in the year 2001.
Highest population is reported from Colombo district for 2001 - 2,251,274. (in 1981 Colombo population was 1,699,241)
Colombo is overwhelmingly the most densely populated district with 3,330 persons per square kilometer, which is nearly 11 times higher than the national figure.

2007

Live births for Sri Lanka numbered 386,573 in 2007

2011

2011 – According to Ministry of Finance & Planning/Dept of Census & Statistics enumeration of Northern Province (covering districts of Jaffna, Mannar, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya & Mullaitivu) total population was 997,754 in 2011 - Jaffna district comprising a population of  567,229 http://www.statistics.gov.lk/PopHouSat/VitalStatistics/EVE2011_FinalReport.pdf

Untraceable population between 2005-2009 was 4,156 while untraceable population in 2009 was 2635

§  Jaffna District population (clearly population has been increasing)

o   2013 - 610.640 (district secretariat – Jaffna)

o   2011 - 567,229

o   2007 – 559,619

o   2003 - 591.830 (district secretariat – Jaffna)

o   1981 – 738,788

o   1971 – 635,117

It would be interesting to know where the 146,958 (difference from 1981-2003) have gone and can be explained from intern migration/external migration and those joining LTTE or illegally living as asylum seekers.

 2012

According to the Census of Population & Housing for 2012 (total Northern Province population = 1,061,315 (In 2001 Northern Province population estimate was 889,387)

Between 1981 to 2007 there are many reasons attributed to the decrease in Tamil population – LTTE recruited civilians, LTTE had its own civilian armed force, LTTE had child soldiers, we really do not know how many Tamils were trained in armed combat though we do know that India clandestinely trained 2236 cadres in addition to 94 female cadres in India in the late 1970s (Jain Commission report) When over 30,000 Sri Lankan soldiers in total have died and over 30,000 soldiers have become injured there has to be a significant number of LTTE cadres to have killed and maimed the national army of Sri Lanka as well as being shot back at too. Likewise, we do not know how many LTTE cadres/child soldiers/suicide cadres actually died in combat and as a result of hostilities even including the last stages of the conflict when LTTE used civilians to fire and LTTE was firing in civilian clothing. Please note all 12,000 LTTE cadres who surrendered were in civilian clothing.

Additionally, there are claims that close to 1million Tamils are living overseas. This number whether they went legally or illegally has to be deducted from the Tamil population census of Sri Lanka.

In 2012 the Northern Province population was 1,061,315.

When Jaffna district alone had 559,619 in 2007 how did the population become 1,061,315 in 2012 if genocide had been committed?

Let us also note a significant number of Tamils have migrated to Colombo and other parts of Sri Lanka as well as overseas (legally and illegally)???

Tamils migrating to Colombo (Western Province)

Western province in Sri Lanka total extent of 3,709 km2. encompasses the administrative districts of Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara. It also includes 48 administrative bodies, 6 municipal councils, 13 urban councils and 29 Pradeshiya Sabhas

Over 97,000 Sri Lankan Tamils have come to settle in Western province since 1981.

The visible increase in Tamils to Colombo and suburbs is evident. So too are the condominiums and flats that are emerging funded by Tamils from Bambalapitiya to Dehiwela where in on each road an average of at least 5 flats can be seen. Many of these Tamil owned flats do not rent/lease to Sinhalese even if the flats are empty. There have been paid adverts seeking only Tamil tenants.

Tamils migrating overseas or seeking refugee/asylum

What looks obvious is that the figures of Tamils overseas appear to be inflated when compared against the census unless there are Tamils living overseas without legal papers. Perhaps those who rant and scream that they can’t return to Sri Lanka do so in the hope of seeking asylum by any means in the countries they are presently illegally staying. Illegally staying is cumbersome when it comes to educating one’s child, in case of a burglary one cannot report the issue to the police, in case of a mugging similar situation.

It is unfortunate that the foreign governments nor the missions in Colombo wish to investigate how many Tamils are living in their countries illegally in particular how many with LTTE connections are also seeking asylum under bogus claims or how many LTTE cadres might have fled or being helped to flee by dubious NGOs that had been operating in Sri Lanka in cahoots with LTTE.

What is clear is that we cannot go by the figures given by Tamil websites and reports for these figures do not tally with the official records and statistics given by the foreign governments.

This topic was taken up by Kathy English a significant discrepancy between Statistics Canada's census data – which points to 29,435 ethnic Tamils in Greater Toronto – and the far greater estimate of 200,000 cited by various academic experts”. She also cites Star library's "statistics pro" Rick Sznajder who took Immigration Canada stats indicating that 114,896 is the total immigration from Sri Lanka from 1983 to 2007 to conclude that "it seems highly unlikely that the number of Tamils in Toronto is anywhere near the reported 200,000 figure."

·         Tamils in Australia number 19,426 in the 2011 Census (ABS 2014 report)

·         As per US population Census 2009-2013 there are 190,660 Tamils in the US with California having the highest 39,655 / New Jersey 19,835 / Texas - 16,960 / Illinois - 10,265 / New York- 8,695 / Virginia 7,99. Of the 52 states in the US there are no Tamils living in Montana and Puerto Rico as per census record.

·         The Sri Lankan Canadian Population according to Statistics Canada in the 2006 census in the 10 Canadian Provinces and 3 territories - 103,625

·         As per Canadian census 2011 - 5,849 Sri Lankans immigrated to Canada in 2000. Since 2000 upto 2015 a total of 57,248 Sri Lankans have immigrated to Canada. The 2011 census statistics give 131,265 Tamil speakers.

·         According to the UNHCR 2012 Country profile - There are 141,074 UNHCR recognized Tamil refugees in non-signatory countries. There are a total of 589,639 refugees from Sri Lanka in 2011 who have registered with the UNHCR in non-signatory countries

·         According to World Social Web Site more than 100,000 Tamils live in France.

What is obvious is that the lying propaganda machine has misled the entire world.

·         We do not know how many Tamils came to live from India and the time frames from pre-colonial/colonial to post-colonial

·         We do not know how many Tamils (both SL and Indian) fought as LTTE (voluntarily or by force) and how many died during hostilities throughout 30 years

·         We do not know how many Tamils are legally/illegally living overseas and foreign govts are clueless about the figures too. There is no uniform global questionnaire during census to locate the ancestral roots of those living in foreign climes.

·         We do not know how many of the IDPs are actually born and registered as SL citizens or how many have secured IDP privileges as Indians illegally living in SL as SL Tamils.

·         What we do know is that dubious figures by LTTE linked parties globally and locally through network of NGOs also connected to them have obliterated the truth. This is why the 40,000 killed figure is looking like a very bad concocted lie and UNHRC and all those who tagged themselves to it are now trying to fabricate more lies to save face. This is totally wrong to be adding lies to lies.

Therefore, while there is no basis for any war crimes tribunals it is suggested that we begin from scratch and foreign governments and the UN first try to assess how many Tamils are living legally and illegally overseas and match that against the statistics. Let us also note that there have been dual entries to the Tamil census by families who have included their children living overseas as those living in Sri Lanka.

Multiculturalism is making a joke out of Sri Lanka : Planting a Christmas Tree in the middle of Galle Face Green

 Shenali D Waduge

Is there a competition for insanity or does it come naturally to those in government? Are decisions taken alone or in consultation? Do a handful voted for a term in office have the right to do as they please not caring a fig about opinion of others? A huge area in the middle of Galle Face Green, a place for the ordinary public to play and meet is being dug to plant the ‘world’s tallest Christmas Tree’ a brainwave of a Buddhist MP when the Catholic Church banned Christmas trees in 2015 claiming there was no religious significance. If the Christmas Tree is not liturgical symbol in a majority Buddhist country why is a Buddhist MP wanting to allocate public space to plant the world’s tallest Christmas tree? So what multiculturalism and co-existence is there in planting a tree that is not even a Christian symbol in the middle of Galle Face Green? We are fast becoming if we have not become already the laughing stock of the entire world!

There is no mention of Christmas in the Bible, nowhere does Jesus ask to observe Christmas, we should by now know that Santa Claus is a lie traditionally followed, If Jesus was not born on 25 December (it is in reality a pagan holiday honouring the pagan sun god) it means people are celebrating a day that Jesus was not even born in. No wonder Christians are leaving Christianity in the West! But we all know Christmas is the businessman’s windfall and businesses make the most profits during Christmas season and it is for this reason only Christmas will remain!

Dr. Ernest Martin asks a poignant question - Is there a command anywhere in the Holy Scriptures that a human should cut a tree out of the forest, set it up in one's home at the time of the Winter Solstice, deck it with trinkets and various decorations, and then place a star on its topmost part to show an association of the tree with the signs of the heavens? NO

So how did Christmas come to be celebrated on 25 December if it is not the birth date of Jesus?

It was first introduced by the Roman pagans and Greek writer Lucian in his Saturnalia describes this week-long festival where human sacrifice, intoxication, rape & other sexual licence were part of the festivities. The first mention of a Nativity feast appears in the Philocalian calendar, a Roman document from 354 CE, which lists December 25th as the day of Jesus’ birth This Saturnalia festival came to be imported into Christianity in the 4th century after large numbers of pagans were converted to Christianity with the promise that they could continue to celebrate Saturnalia as Christians but Saturnalia was Christianized as Jesus Birthday. However, the Puritans banned Christmas because of its pagan origins. Alaw was passed in Massechusettes USA in 1659, "Whosoever shall be found observing Christmas, either by forbearing of labor, feasting, or any other way, every such person shall pay as a fine five shillings to the county."

In 1466 Pope Paul II forced Jews to race naked through the streets of the City as part of the Saturnalia carnival. (David I. Kertzer, The Popes Against the Jews: The Vatican’s Role in the Rise of Modern Anti-Semitism) In 1836 the Jewish community sent a petition to Pope Gregory XVI begging him to stop the annual Saturnalia and abuse of Jews.

The Christmas tree was also a pagan worship which also came to be adopted by the Church.

Clement Miles, Christmas Customs and Traditions: Their History and Significance covers the origins of mistletoe which was a Druid ritual using mistletoe to poison their human sacrificial victim, while the custom of ‘kissing under the mistletoe’ he says was another sexual license of Saturnalia by Druidic sacrificial cult. Miles also claims that origins of Christmas presents derived from emperors compelling their most despised citizens to bring offerings during the Saturnalia and the Church gave a Christian flavour by associating it was the gift-giving of St. Nicholas.

Nicholas was born in 270CE in Turkey. He became the Bishop of Myra and was one of the senior bishops who created the New Testament in 325 CE portraying Jews as ‘children of the devil’. He died on 6thDecember 345CE. He became a saint in 19th century. In 1087 some sailors moved his bones from Turkey to Italy where Nicholas became a cult and soon spread to Germany and among Celtic pagans. Soon those who had been worshipping pantheon led by chief god Woden incorporated his long white beard and flying horse with Nicolas. Thus, this cult was adopted by the Church and instead of distributing gifts on 6 December it was changed to 25thDecember. In 1809 novelist Washington Irving wrote a satire referring to the white bearded flying horse riding St. Nicholas using the Dutch name Santa Claus. It is believed that Dr. Clement Moor professor at Union Seminary portrayed Santa with 8 reindeer in 1822 while Thomas Nast drew more than 2200 cartoon images of Santa for Harper’s Weekly in mid 1860s projecting Santa as living in the North Pole, with a workshop filled with elves. Santa’s red cloak came after Coca Cola Corporation contracted Haddon Sundblom, a Swedish commercial artist to create a coke-drinking Santa in 1931 and Santa ended up with a red cloak.

Some facts about Christmas Trees
§  standard Fraser Fir takes about 7 years to get to the average size of 6-7' tall. It can take as many as 15 years to grow a tree the average retail height of six feet, but the average growing time is 7 years
§  severe hot weather is not conducive to growth of Christmas trees
§  16 elements are needed for its growth - hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen. Nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, boron, copper, chlorine, manganese, molybdenum, iron, and zinc are obtained from the soil.

The fools riding on the bandwagon of reconciliation and multiculturalism are making a mockery of the country and we are being laughed upon even by the very parties that are throwing these foolish ideas that our politicians are implementing.

Jehan “Pacha” Perera stokes fires of Tamil racism again
H. L. D. Mahindapala

Velupillai Prabhakaran, the sociopathic Rottweiler unleashed by the Tamil Vellahla leadership to fetch their bone of Eelam, is no longer there to bark, bite, or grab Tamil children on their way to school. In the absence of any one else surfacing to replace ruthless Tamil racism and hate politics, C.V. Wigneswaran, the Chief Minister, seems to have stepped in to fill the vacuum. Like Prabhakaran his aim is to shine as the “sole representative of the Tamils”, eclipsing his political sponsors in the TNA. As an English-speaking, Saivite, Jaffna Vellahla extremist he represents the worst elements of what went wrong with Tamil politics in the post-Independent era.

Like all Tamil politicians, his standard political tactic is to blame the Sinhalese for all the evils bred in the womb of Jaffna. Diverting attention away from the evils of caste-ridden oppression  that dehumanised Jaffna society is a prime necessity for Jaffna  politicians to cover-up their heinous past. Wigneswaran’s latest diversion  is to blame the Security Forces for the rise of drug addiction among the Tamil youth. P. K. Balachandran of the Indian Express wrote : “Wigneswaran, like other Tamil politicians, blames the army and the police for rising drink and drug addiction among Tamil youth in the post-war era. He has also alleged that the Security Forces are behind the rising crime in the North.” (Indian Express — August 30, 2016 ). Well. what else is new in Jaffna politics? As I have said earlier, whenever Prabhakaran had constipation, the Tamils blamed “the Sinhala-government” for not sending Basmati rice!

Wigneswaran’s ideological affinities with Prabhakaran, Swamy Premananda, the Tamil rapist who is also accused of murder, and Arumuka Navalar, the religious guru of Vellahla Saivites, guarantee that he is most likely to sabotage and resist negotiations to make compromises work for peaceful co-existence. However, as a Saivite of Jaffna, his loyalties are to Arumuka Navalar, the Hindu revivalist who preached that non-believers should be killed and if the Jaffna Tamils can’t kill them personally they must hire someone else to do the job for them. And  if they can’t do either they must migrate.  It is  this blood-thirsty cult that gripped the minds of the Saivite, Jaffna Vellahla extremists who dominated and steered peninsular politics all the way to Nandikadal.

Besides, Wigneswaran’s alignment with the Indian Vishawa Hindu Parisad (VHP) does not augur well for the future of non-Hindu Muslims and the Sinhalese. He combines in him the fascist Saivite cult of Arumuka Navalar and the Indian VHP – a deadly combination that  threatens the best efforts of all peace activists. If the Wigneswaran strand of extremism gains the upper hand in Jaffna, with the backing  of the Tamil Diaspora, then the people of Jaffna should get ready to trek all the way back to Nandikadal one more time.

Wigneswaran is showing no signs of letting  up. He is consistently stoking the past to raise the anti-Sinhala-Buddhist hate politics. He is reverting to hate politics because he has nothing else to offer the Tamil people. He does not even bother to utilise the state resources available to him to serve the immediate needs of the Tamil people. Like most Tamil politicians he is obsessed with anti-Sinhala politics, brushing aside the much needed economics. He is behind the Tamil People’s Council, (TPC), which  was launched  on December 12, 2015, as an alternative to the TNA, according to Tamil political analysts.

Right now TPC is making preparations to launch an anti-Government “Tamil uprising” (whatever form  it takes) on September 14, states the TamilNet, the rabid mouthpiece of Tamil extremism. This “uprising” is to coincide with the September sessions in Geneva and also the arrival of Ban  Ki-Moon. Of  course, this means that Wigneswaran’s TPC has decided to revert to confrontational politics at a time when the imperatives of the post-Nandikadal politics demand more sober and rational approach to resolve sensitive issues. Jaffna is resorting to the same old game of pushing the electorate to aggressive Tamil racism in an attempt to sabotage the attempts of the Tamil parties willing  to find accommodation within the pragmatic parameters of attainable politics. The political agenda of the TPC is aimed primarily at undermining the TNA’s moves to find compromises.

The TPC and TNA are now running against each other in an electoral competition to retain their vote base. The TNA seems  to be the less aggressive party with an understanding  of the extent to which it can go. They have grasped the heavy pressures of the international community and they know that they can go only thus far and no further. But the Wigneswaran-Gajendran Ponnambalam extremists in the TPC wing of Tamil politics, backed by the Prabhakaranist elements in the Tamil Diaspora, are manoeuvring to drag Jaffna back to the failed Vadukoddai agenda.

Wigneswaran is playing with fire when he gambles with Tamil racist extremism once again. Does he know what bloody route it will take if his extremism turns violent and takes the same Vadukoddian path? Does he know where it will end? Does he know how many more Tamil children will be dragged in  to pursue his  political fantasies? After Prabhakaran, is  he going  to be the next grim grave digger of Jaffna? With his aggressive Tamil extremism he is also forcing political players to take sides. Not surprisingly, Jehan “Pacha” Perera has decided to join Wigneswaran’s bandwagon. In doing so he has returned to his failed past of joining hands with the extreme wing  of Tamil politics. His diastrous record proves that he never had any viable solution to the national issues, except appeasement of Tamil extremist demands at any cost. In his role as a  foreign-funded peace-mudalali, with pretentious claims of having the keys to the kingdom of peace, he ended his futile days parroting Prabhakaranist politics of all-or-nothing which is the current stand of Wigneswaran.

“Pacha” Perera’s latest hijinks is to repeat Wigneswaran’s accusation that the entry of Sinhala students to Jaffna University is “cultural colonisation”. He also agrees with Wigneswaran who claims  that the admission of Sinhala students is an attempt to change the demographic composition of the Tamils in the North. (Colombo Telegraph —July 25, 2016).  Regurgitating the NPC statement, he states: “…the Northern Provincial Council issued a statement that identified the demographic pattern of the North and East after the war as being consciously changed and students from other provinces being admitted in large numbers into Jaffna University.”

Endorsing it as valid evidence he adds : “The statement issued by the Northern Provincial Council and signed by both its Chief Minister and Opposition Leader, and which cannot simply be dismissed as being the political maneuverings of extremists, contains feelings and facts that need to be taken seriously.” It  is not surprising to find that “Pacha” Perera’s NPC (National Peace Council) parrots the politics of Wigneswaran’s NPC (Northern Provincial Council.) Moves for reconciliation will go nowhere with the two NPCs working  in tandem to push Tamil racism to the extreme. If  this “Pachaya” knows the ABC of race relations, just not in Sri Lanka but across  the globe, he should be aware that intransigent identity politics pushing extreme religio-ethnic agendas have  been the primary cause of violence and global instability. The biggest threat to human rights and  peace stems from the likes of Donald Trumps and Wigneswarans. “Pacha” Perera’s politics has been to defend and justify mono-ethnic extremism as the way to peace and stability. He tried this formula with his favourites  in the LTTE, all of which sank with his political heroes to the bottom of Nandikadal. His theories were no better than the fictitious doctorate he conferred on Anton Balasingham.

In joining Wigneswaran he has started his  old game of backing “Dr.” Anton Balasingham and his master, the Tamil Pol Pot. From now on one can expect this “Pachaya” to labour indefatigably to back the venomous  racism of Wigneswaran. He is once again manufacturing excuses for “the political maneuverings of extremists” who are pushing politics of the North to mono-ethnic singularities at the expense of democratic pluralism. In other words, he is saying that it  is legitimate for the North to reserve the Jaffna university for the Tamils as the introduction of multi-ethnic multi-culturalism would disturb the demographic dominance of the Tamils. This is another way of saying that the  north must be carved out as an exclusive mono-ethnic enclave for the Tamils only to maintain their supremacy, denying any space for non-Tamils, whether Muslims  or Sinhalese, while the South must open their doors for multi-ethnic pluralism. Well, if it is ok for the North to  preserve the North exclusively for the Tamils (their “feeling and facts …need to be taken seriously”, he says) then why is it not ok for the Sinhala supremacists to deny rights to non-Sinhalese? Why shouldn’t the Sinhalese maintain the land they claim to be theirs only for the Sinhalese? Shouldn’t “the feeling and the facts  of the Sinhalese also be taken seriously”, eh Pachaya?

Those who argue for multiculturalism and pluralism can’t have it both ways. They can’t insist on legalising and institutionalising multi-culturalism and pluralism in the south and, in the same breath, insisting on legalising and institutionalising Tamil racism  in the north. Their flawed notion of multi-culturalism is in preserving the North exclusively for the Tamils and, at the same time, opening the rest of the nation for the Tamils to have a foot in the south as well, on an equal footing as the rest – a right which they refuse to give other communities in the north. In short, there will no be no multi-culturalism in the North. Jaffna is to be a territory that will be preserved for the Vellahla elite. Anyone “outsider” stepping in Jaffna will be accused of interfering with minority rights. But the South must open their doors for pluralism, including the Tamils, in addition to the domain they claim to be their exclusive property. Drawing borders to demarcate ethnicity is racism. Opening societies for all communities to co-exist peacefully is pluralism. Multi-culturalists must get their definitions right and decide, once and for all, whether they want mono-ethnic singularities or liberal and humane pluralities.

Moves for reconciliation will go nowhere with the two NPCs working  in tandem to push Tamil racism to the extreme. All the punditry of our “Pachaya” in the past has failed to deliver results of any value to the war-weary people. Not a single of his partisan theories, cooked up by his NPC, ever worked to bring peace to the victims of the Vadukoddai War. He was manufacturing  theories to rake  in more  dollars to fatten his bank account and not to save the victims  of the war waged by his “Dr.” Anton Balasingham and his master. “Pachaya” unashamedly played  the devious role of an unscrupulous liar deliberately distorting realities and hard facts to boost the war-mongering Tamil Pol Pot. Now he is starting  his theoretical jiggery-pokery all over again to stoke  the embers of racism for  him and his fellow-peace-mudalalis to profit from the misery of another ethnic conflagration.

This, of course, is against the principle of guaranteeing non-recurrence of  violence – one of the four objectives mandated in the Geneva Resolution. When our “Pachaya” joins hands with Wigneswaran it can only lead to recurrence of ethnic  violence. He can’t  argue for  the implementation of Geneva Resolution and, in the same breath, back extreme racism, jumping into Wigneswaran’s bandwagon, which can only lead to recurrence of Tamil violence. Besides, he boasts of a being a committed “stakeholder” of the Yahapalanya regime. Doesn’t he know that when he sides with Wigneswaran he is undermining his prime “stakeholder”, Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is putting  pressure on Rajavarothiam Sampanthan to stop the scheduled “Tamil uprising”. It is apparent that our “Pachaya” is aiming to ride both horses – Wigneswaran and Wickremesinghe – simultaneously. Since both horses are running two different directions in  which dustbin will this “Pachayas” end up?

Consider, for instance, the following statement where he cites figures to project a picture of the Sinhala students getting an undue share of places in the Science Faculty of Jaffna University. Like Wigneswaran he resents the presence  of 60 % Sinhala students in the Science Faculty (mark you, selected on merit).  “Pacha” Perera and states :  “It may be necessary to restructure the university admissions which is currently based on a national merit-based policy or permit the provincial councils to set up regional universities that can give priority to local area students.” In other words, he is saying that university authorities must reject merit as a criterion in selecting talented Sinhala and Muslims students and admit only local Tamil students to Jaffna University to retain the local ethnic demographics. Supposing I argued on these lines and insisted that all the universities in Sinhala areas should admit only local students, irrespective of their merits, what would he say? Won’t he and his moral maniacs raise a howl branding me as a racist? Isn’t he deliberately promoting racist politics to keep communities apart?

Pacha Perera’s formula of admitting  only local students to universities is racism at its worst, promoting divisive politics to maintain the territorial claims based on ethnic composition. This is Pacha Perera’s version of “bhumiputra” politics. Compare  this to the constructive experiment of His Excellency Judge C. G.Weeramantry. He proved that the future is in integration and not in separation. He funded a programme where undergraduates of the north and east were camped for  a fortnight under one roof with the Sinhala students of  the south. Initially, on the first day or two, there was reluctance and mental reservations about breaking out of the old prejudices. But at the end of the fortnight the students of all communities had bonded together and there were tears in their eyes on the eve of departure. Even in the Jaffna campus, despite the language differences, there was no  bitter animosity among the Sinhala and Tamils students until the atavistic arrogance of Tamil racism raised its ugly head. So when Pacha Perera theorises to keep the communities apart, confined to Nazi-style campuses, he is pursuing the Prabhakaranist–Wigneswaranist racism and not the mandate of “non-recurrence” of racism leading  to violence. The two formulas reveal the difference between a far-seeing savant serving the noble cause of bringing humanity together and a myopic idiot trawling theoretical mud to build walls to keep people apart. It is clear that even with his glass-bottom specs he cannot see beyond his nose. At best, he can see just far enough – and that too when he goes down  on his  knees — to lick the boots of  Tamil Pol Pots and their successors.

In essence, Pacha Perera is arguing to retain the status quo in the north without changing pragmatically to meet the new realities of the post-Nandikadal era. As long  as Prabhakaran was running  peninsular politics the Tamils and NGOs were relying cockily on brutal violence as a means  of dictating  terms to the state. Without  that leverage now they have fallen back on “the international community” to pull their chestnuts out. With Prabhakaran they were dependent primarily inhuman violence. Now they are relying  on human rights. The “Pacha” Pereras and “Paki” Saravanamuttus have been in both bandwagons, aiding and abetting Tamil extremism. They never argued for regime change of  the Pol Potist regime for the liberation of Tamils.

They were always for retaining the violent and racist status quo in the north, whoever was in command. Their strategy was consistently to change regimes of the democratic south, or to weaken power at the centre for the West to manipulate and  enforce their will. Their human rights campaigns have not gone  beyond putting up defences for the racist fascism of the  North, disguised as minority rights. Minority rights have no blanket cover to do what  they want at any cost. Their rights end where the rights of the other minorities and the majorities begin. This means that the North must change and accept the new realities of co-existing in a pluralistic society. It means abandoning  the failed policies of mono-ethnic arrogance aimed at overriding the aspirations of  the other communities. It means live and let live. It means that the North must change — and change radically.

Pacha Perera, for  instance, has been moving from village to village in the South holding seminars  to change the South. But there was no commensurate programme to change the perspectives of the North. Besides, there were foreign-funds only for changing the South, not the North. For  instance, Norwegian funds flooded the nation  to even penetrate  the Sangha – a grass root power identified as a primary source for manipulating local politics to serve foreign interests. At the height of the  international intervention led by the Norwegians, the Norwegian Foreign Office sent a senior researcher, Iselin Frydenlund of the Peace Research Institute of Oslo (PRIO) to do field  work in Buddhism  in Sri Lanka. In 2004 –2005, she wrote a paper on “The Sangha and its relation to the peace process in Sri Lanka” for the benefit of the Norwegian team led by Erik Solheim, the Norwegian negotiator whose mission, inter alia, was to pick up the liquor bills left  behind in five star hotels by our Pachayas “Dr”. Balasingham. Research was a part  of  the political process of Western powers to manipulate developing nations to serve their foreign interests. Both big corporations and the foreign offices of the West hire NGOs to develop strategies for socio-political interventions. It is cheaper  for foreign powers to hire Pacha Pereras and Paki Saravanamuttus than post their  diplomats and their families in Colombo.

Politics in the Buddhist belt  of South Asia, located  in the underbelly of China, has received special attention, not only because of the emerging dynamics of the Big  Power politics in the region but also because of the minorities clashing with the Buddhist majorities. Influencing the Sangha has become  a  political necessity for  interventionist  politics to succeed. So  it  is  not  surprising to find a Buddhist monk  on the board of Catholic Pacha Perara’s NPC. Infiltrating and exploiting the Sangha has been one of the main tactics of all foreign funded NGOs. Even the former 75-rupee  teacher at Nalanda College, A. T. Ariyaratne, became a billionaire, by packaging and  marketing  politicised Buddhism to foreign powers.

The upshot of this massive focus on Sinhala-Buddhism has been to demonise the South as racist bigots for not giving  into the extremist demands of the North. But this is historically inaccurate. The South has a history of giving, though tardily, and  each time it concedes  the North increases its demands. The 13th Amendment  is a case in point. After signing the Indo-Sri  Lanka Agreement, with the help of India, they have shifted the ground  to demand 13 plus. The history of the Northern demands  is the same as that of Oliver Twist : the more you give the more they want. There will be Wigneswarans sprouting like mushrooms to push the North to the extreme until they get their Eelam. Constitutional exercises are mere eye-wash which will not take either the North or the South anywhere. Which constitutional formula can stop the the rise of Oliver Twists? Isn’t it time to say enough is enough?

The only certainty in Northern  politics  is the rise of future Oliver Twists, demanding  this, that and the  other. North has been the most vicious breeding  ground for intransigent racism and will continue to be so because they depend primarily on hate politics for their survival. Northern racism thrived exclusively on politics of hate of  the “other” – i.e., the Sinhala-Buddhists. Our intellectual “Pachayas” are reluctant to mount an argument to end Northern racism. It is the prime cause that obstructs peaceful co-existence. Reconciliation is a two-way traffic : Yal Devi must  not only go to Jaffna, it must also come down to Colombo. But Prabhakaran-Wigneswaran idea of reconciliation  is confined to only one-way traffic. Their idea of reconciliation is all take and no give. And the NGO “Pachayas” have gone along blithely with this one-way politics which has been the root cause of communal violence.

There can be no peace, stability and reconciliation  as long as the North insists on mono-ethnic extremism. So the future depends of the North changing and accepting pluralistic multi-culturalism as a  new way of life.  Insisting  on changes only in the South can lead to two counter-productive ends :  (1) fattening bank accounts of Pacha Perera and Paki Saravanamuttu in the South and 2. paving  the path to the next Nandikadal in the NortCPA

UN Resolutions are NON-BINDING - Sri Lanka’s Government helping create Precedents that would be detrimental to sovereignty of all UN Members

 Shenali D Waduge

Member nations of the UN are advised to keep a close watch on the current developments in Sri Lanka. They must take note of the manner Sri Lanka is being used as a guinea pig by Western imperial powers using UN & UNSG as their puppets to tweak national laws and undermine the nation’s security, sovereignty and territorial integrity. This experiment is clearly to bring Sri Lanka under the rule of UN laws and the success of the experiment using local sepoys and lascoreens will have equal and adverse impact upon other UN member states who will be subject to these same nuances now being rolled out and accepted with open arms by local puppets in government. These are all aligned to the plan to remove the nation-state system whereby nations will no longer have sovereignty over their people or the resources in their countries. The pathetic situation Sri Lanka is today experiencing and the precedents being created must worry other UN member states for they are likely to be the next targets.

First let us look at the non-binding nature of UN resolutions.

The powers and functions of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) are clearly set out in Article 10 through 17. GA resolutions are merely recommendations, not laws, and thus not binding on member states. In short there is no legal obligation by governments to implement or even consider UN resolutions. If such is the status quo for the UN General Assembly resolutions why has Sri Lanka’s advisors not made this clear to the Sri Lankan governments who have accepted UNHRC Resolutions drafted by nations that commit crimes with impunity without even diplomatically wording the status quo! (refer : Hurd, Ian (2011), International Organizations: Politics, Law, Practice)

Under the principle of pacta sunt servanda (‘agreements must be kept’), treaties are binding on the parties and must be performed by them in good faith. But this does not mean that every provision of a treaty creates a legal obligation, the breach of which entails non-compliance.

Resolution 1653 states the use of nuclear weapons would constitute a direct violation of the UN Charter. However, the US used Agent Orange in Vietnam, US used white phosphorus in Iraq and the US has been flouting every customary law passed by the UN. In fact Julian Assange in 2007 claimed that US has at least 2386 ‘non-lethal’ chemical weapons deployed in Iraq. US is alleged to have used sarin nerve gas in Laos.

If all members of the UN are equal how is it that US and NATO nations can flout all laws and universally accepted norms while these violators can use the podium of the UN to point fingers at other nations and draft resolutions for UN to take action against them? We are puzzled. There cannot be different laws for some and no laws for others while some can flout all laws and nothing happens to them while propaganda and false reports can accuse other countries and these countries alone are subject to the UN gavel!

The lies that facilitate UN intervention

Genocide propaganda lies
·         40,000 figure was used in Srebrenica and same figure is being used against Sri Lanka. How convenient!
·         Media went to town, foreign nations went to town, lies and propaganda sufficed to break up Yugoslavia and create Kosovo which was really to set up a NATO base that could target Russia. So you have to wonder what the aim of the 40,000 dead in Sri Lanka is all about when none of those claiming the figure can produce names or details of the dead but want to set up an office where fabrications can continue until the objective is achieved.
·         Funnily enough the hype ended up a virtual “puswedilla” with less than 2000 dead! We know the same fate will await Sri Lanka’s bogus ‘genocide’ claim where Tamil population is increasing amidst genocide!

Farcical ‘war criminal’ propaganda
·         The President of Serbia, Slobadan Milosevic was called the Butcher of Serbia, he was ridiculed arrested where he died suspiciously in prison and then 14 years later the ICC now says Milosevic is not a war criminal. Not even an apology or compensation for his family or the nation the UN/US & West broke up.

Incubator lie that resulted in invasion of Iraq in 1991

·         Forgotten is the lies that went into coercing Saddam Hussein to invade Kuwait and thereafter using the media to create incubator death of children story to justify the invasion by US of Iraq in 1991 (Gulf War 1) which resulted in scores of deaths, the Iraqi sanctions and the UN complicity in Oil-for-Food program.

WMD lies that justified Iraqi invasion in 2003

We have not forgotten how Colin Powell lied to the UN the extent of details that went into establishing the lies can be gaged by reading the transcript http://www.un.org/press/en/2003/sc7658.doc.htm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ughtKRK78-g

9/11 used to attack Afghanistan
·         None of the hijackers were Afghans but US & NATO attacked and continue to occupy Afghanistan with no end to reducing military presence.

Lies continue to justify strikes against Syria that has virtually devastated the country and made refugees of its people, with the migrant crisis spilling across Europe as part of a bigger game to destabalize European nations the same is taking place in South America as well.

We now come to Sri Lanka. Everyone knows Sri Lanka has been ravaged with a terrorist problem otherwise why else would 32 nations ban LTTE as a terrorist organization. However, throughout 30 years of killings the UN and Rest of the World had only one advice ‘talk to the terrorists’ and talk we did but it did not stop the terror or killings inspite of ceasefires, negotiations even change of climate taking terrorists to foreign climes and even hosting them in 5 star hotels!

None bothered to investigate the links to terrorist organizations and tabulate the parties/individuals/governments and other players that were helping terrorists thrive to advance their own agendas. For Christian NGOs people in peril was an opportunity to convert them to balance the declining and deserting Christians in the West, for the arms traders any conflict sufficed so long as they could sell their wares, for western governments and the puppet UN it was a golden opportunity to use the volatile environment to enter as conflict resolutionists with their excel sheets, seminars, peaceful coexistence programs carried out on the surface but working underground to ensure the conflicts did not end and also researching and tabulating where and how the national powers could be tweaked and transferred to be controlled by Western sources and their locally paid stooges happy to forsake their nation and people for them to live a life of luxury.

What needs to be said is that the UN did not stop terror in Sri Lanka, did not stop child recruitment to LTTE, did not stop Tamil low caste civilians from being forcibly inducted to the LTTE, did not stop unpaid labor by LTTE, did not stop LTTE’s violation of UN fundamental rights and when the Sri Lankan Army did eliminate the LTTE ground force while also saving close to 300,000 Tamils (some of whom were LTTE in civilian clothing) the UN cries foul, demands accountability, demands tribunals and now wishes to set up missing offices wherein the war criminals are the Sri Lankan soldiers and the victims are the LTTE.
This is a repeat of what the UN did in Yugoslavia and how UN helped the creation of Kosovo (incidentally the architect is now investigating Sri Lanka for UNHRC) and South Sudan where the UN are abandoning the people having done its mission on behalf of the West - http://foreignpolicy.com/2016/08/26/they-ran-to-the-u-n-for-help-they-got-tear-gassed-instead/?utm_content=buffer219d6&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer
What is currently noteworthy in the UN/UNHRC hysterical role in Sri Lanka’s accountability is the manner that the UN is getting the local stooges to virtually hand over governance on a platter to the UN.
Leaving aside the illegality of the resolutions based on a personally commissioned report for the UNSG and the conflict of interest by the former UNHRC head who after leaving office attends LTTE front events overseas a lot of lies has gone into castigating Sri Lanka in order to justify a war crimes tribunal.
The new OMP bill will be not subject to right to information or can be questioned by local court in any of its deliberations. The office can compile any amount of lies and not have the witnesses cross –examined. What kind of legal and justice system is this!
But wait and watch the UNSG will have a prepared speech showering praises about the OMP and anyone going through the contents will be shocked at how the UN has managed to sweep powers upon itself and this case is detrimental to other member nations of the UN who can be subject to the same scenario simply by tapping into groups of weak locals ready to sell their soul. People’s integrity have waned… throw some money, use a woman/man/or others and sexual promiscuity has brought down even Presidents! Promises perks and privileges and these locals would just about do anything. Such is the state of affairs that has befallen Sri Lanka.
Those following the UN and its bodies and connecting the programs they are presently rolling out (Agenda 2030, Global Goals etc) will notice how far the UN is contriving to remove the powers national governments control and transfer them to UN which invariably means a handful of private corporates and lobbies will be controlling the world, the people and all resources in time to come.
While we have seen little opposition by India to these developments, we would like to see Russia and China coming forward to counter these by ensuring that the UN does not remove the sovereign national powers vested in nations failing which Russia and China must call for all nations to exit the UN and formulate a better global forum which does not have one law for some and no law for others.

Ban ki Moon Returns: UNSG puppet of Western imperialism welcomed by Sri Lanka’s lascoreens / sepoys

Ban Ki Moon will come, he will see and he will officially give his nod to obliterate Sri Lanka as per the plan passed on to him to follow which is being happily facilitated by a handful of born again lascoreens and sepoys now in power wielding and prostrating to every whim and whimper coming from the US, India, LTTE diaspora and the UN and its coterie of foreign paid NGO activists. The fate of a nation with over 2600 recorded history is today in peril and we shudder to wonder what kind of bizarre joint statement will be issued in the forthcoming days before the puppet UN head leaves. Ignoring all of the crimes committed by US & NATO, the destruction to peaceful countries and killings of innocent civilians as a result of arming Islamic and other militants the UN and its head seeks no accountability for these war crimes.

UN ignored our suffering that lasted over 30 years and now when Sri Lanka’s army has become the only army to defeat a terrorist movement, the soldiers become the war criminals and the terrorists have been turned into the victims and our lascoreens and sepoys in power are ready to offer these soldiers and war heroes on a platter by opening up missing offices to log LTTE cadres as being killed, manned by paid NGOs who will provide the bogus lies and fiction to indict them legally. These crimes that are being committed defying all norms of morality and ethics prove that the world will remain in peril because of traitors and treacheries being committed with impunity.

Having done NOTHING throughout 30 years of terrorism when LTTE struck Buddhist sacred temples, killed Buddhists who were worshipping, killed Muslims praying inside mosques, cut and slit up innocent children and pregnant mothers in border villages, blew up commercial hubs and public property, while also watching LTTE recruit children as child soldiers and train Tamil civilians in armed combat, the UN and UNSG as well as the UNHRC and its head have the audacity to demand accountability from the country’s national army who ensured that the citizens did not have to suffer suicide cadres, wayside bombs and other LTTE barbarisms. In demanding accountability the UN and its puppet is now mixing up terrorism and political agendas to carve out a small island nation for geopolitical interests and to appease groups of people that lobby with money no different to how the UNSG was quick to remove Saudi from the UN shamelist when Saudi threatened to stop all funding to the UN.

How dare the UN and officials descend to expect VVIP treatment by creating precedents through legally questionable resolutions that are biased and of double standards, to brand the men who ended terrorism as war criminals while presenting the terrorists as victims through a bizaare office of missing persons that Ban Ki Moon has come to praise the government for passing in parliament.

What is this office of missing persons that Ban Ki Moon will soon congratulate the Sri Lankan Government for implementing? This office will be allowed to sign any agreement with even foreign bodies and receive money / funds and even recruit foreigners as staff / consultants. Remember the LTTE’s ISGA proposals it is no different and this means even staff from LTTE fronts will be recruited. These staff can function with impunity even walk into any army camp and demand confidential documents and refusal will amount to contempt of court though this office cannot be hurled before local courts. This office can produce any evidence that cannot be cross examined and the person accusing will have their identity concealed. Prabakaran can put soldiers into prison from his grave! All findings and reports have now come under universal law as agreed by local traitors to the UNHRC which implies that any name on these lists can be arrested in any country and charged. Where in the world do we hear of terrorists and a national party being put on par – will US soldiers agree to have equal status to Al Qaeda or ISIS (even if they are supporting them!) How can a government force the Sri Lankan tax payer to pay compensation to terrorists who were killing them throughout 30 years! This is the thank you that the present government has given to the ranaviru who sacrificed their lives and limbs to bring peace.

While there is no shortage of shame that we can besiege the UN and the UNSG with, we are reminded at the shameful manner the lascoreens and sepoys have arisen to switch sides for crumbs just as their ancestors did during colonial rule.

Lascoreens and sepoys are terms of reference to locals who teamed up with the enemy, even joining their army to kill their own people. They were given this name in view of forsaking their own to satisfy their lust for perks, privileges and positions, all the traits that apply to those siding with the enemies to balkanize our island nation to meet the historical agendas of the West and India.

Ramesh Thakur, former Asst General in the UN has raised the need for members to reform the flaws in particular those which have resulted in appointing mediocre appeasing personalities like Ban Ki Moon from Asia. The UNSG role is being laughed at by the very countries the UNSG is serving as evident through a leaked internal assessment by Norway’s deputy UN ambassador Mona Juul who described Ban as being ‘charisma-challenged, battling to show leadership, failing to deliver, prone to constant outbursts of rage, unwilling to share the limelight, unable to speak free from his Korean handlers to listen to experienced UN hands”.

The West may ridicule the UNSG but they will never appoint a man with pluck! Instead the UNSG appointment would always go to a man, woman or inbetween who will play fiddle to the tune of the fiddlers. It is this same colonial mindset of superiority and inferiority that continues to prevail despite a plethora of terminologies and initiatives implemented just to show that things have changed. Colonials came to plunder, neocolonials continue to plunder as that is the only way they know to maintain their living conditions in the West by forcibly taking resources of the rest of the world.

The UN entity has been turned into a body that officially endorses the former colonial endeavors. Colonial invaders went on a civilizing mission of sub-human inhabitants who needed to be Christianized. The neo-colonials are on a similar civilizing mission claiming to democratize and liberate people but leaving their nations devastated by bombing and dropping of chemicals while impoverishing the natives forcing them to sign debt traps so that the West could live happily off the interests.

UN was created to avoid another World War. Today, we are facing uncountable number of armed conflicts. The facts speak for themselves and question what is the peace that the UN has delivered?

• There are close to 70 countries suffering some sort of armed conflict globally.

• 71 UN peacekeeping operations since 1945 and 16 upt 2016 with 118,792 UN personnel with   $8.27 billion   approved resources for period July 2015 to June 2016. This money could have easily solved hunger, water and shelter.

• According to William Blum US has been repeatedly overthrowing other people’s governments. His list covers over 57 countries that US has interfered in since 1945 and UN has done absolutely nothing about it but the UN SG is ever ready to produce the red card on countries trying to defend their territory.

• Having absolved itself by claiming UN had failed the people during the last phase of the conflict with a carefully contrived report on Sri Lanka (Petrie Report), the UN is doing nothing about US-supported Saudi starving of Yemeni children and media owned by West are dead silent. https://friendsofsyria.wordpress.com/...

• Luciana Bohne claims “Since 1945, America’s Manifest Destiny, posing as the Free World’s Crusade against the Red Menace, has claimed 20 to 30 million lives worldwide and bombed one-third of the earth’s people.” http://www.counterpunch.org/2016/05...UN has been deaf, blind and mouthless for all of Americas’ illegal wars some of which the UN has sanctioned inspite of knowing the illegalities.

• Robert Baer, a former CIA officer has disclosed how US Govt had paid millions to balkanize Yugoslavia. http://www.ebritic.com/?p=551270He confirms that CIA agents were responsible for writing the official statement that the announcers read on the news. Their mission was to “spread hatred, nationalism and the differences between people through television.” He confirms that “Srebrenica is an exaggerated story and unfortunately many people are being manipulated” Noteworthy was that here too the song was 40,000 dead the same number being used in Sri Lanka and reason for a war crimes tribunal. What is prophetic is his next statement “The town of Srebrenica was sacrificed to give America a motive to attack the Serbs for their alleged crimes” the crocodile tears about 40,000 missing/dead is the motive to separate the North which is why puppet Ban Ki Moon has come to Sri Lanka. Robert Baer’s message to the people of Yugoslavia is this “Forget the past, it was staged and false. They manipulated you, they got what they wanted and it is stupid that you still hate one another, you must show that you are stronger and you realise who has created this ! I sincerely apologise! That’s why I have for a long time disclosed the secrets of the CIA and the White House!” Can the Tamils and Muslims and the lascoreens and sepoy Sinhalese read these lines, if not once maybe several times and realize the same fate awaits Sri Lanka unless they wake up.

The Philippine President and the Venezuelan President has been accusing the UN of late. The Venezuelan President even accused Ban Ki Moon of committing to a strategy of war against Syria following UN report accusing Syria of using chemical weapons. What was implied was clear – Ban Ki Moon had already concluded Syria as the guilty party on behalf of the West of course. What is laughable is the country that commits crimes with impunity is pointing the accusing finger at Syria too. The Venezuelan President went on to accuse the UN of juxtaposing the Turkish army shooting down a Syrian helicopter and the publication of the UN report to justify NATO intervention. What is curious is why Ban Ki Moon has not authorized the UN commission to find the perpetrators. In the case of Sri Lanka, the perpetrators are the ‘victims’. UN has done nothing about NATO bombing of Libya, nor Yugoslavia and the UNSG is unlikely to do anything against US, UK or NATO ever.

If the UNSG’s are mediocre roles to satisfy the geopolitical agendas of western imperialism and lobby groups the Asian and African continents must seriously ask themselves whether they wish to simply attend and sit like puppets at the UNGA and return home after delivering speeches written by others or demand serious reforms which denies white supremacist racism, double standards and bias to prevail.

Russia and China must seriously take note of the situation. Virtually all of the former colonies have again been invaded, crippled or had their democratically elected leaders overthrown and replaced by puppets, lascoreens and sepoys who will do as the West bids them to do. The people of these countries are now fed up with the suffering they are going through and will back Russia and China to close down the UN and create a new entity that promises to judge not by the color of people’s skins, the money they throw or the lies they can concoct.

Let us Quit the UN

UN-Accountable: Ban Ki Moon you have no time to see a Single Sinhalese victim of LTTE terrorism who are 74% of Sri Lanka’s population

 Shenali D Waduge

Ban Ki Moon, Secretary General of the United Nations arrived in Sri Lanka in May 2009. He did not have time to see a Sinhalese or Muslim victim of LTTE terror. Ban Ki Moon, Secretary General of the United Nations has arrived again in September 2016. He still does not have time or desire to see a single Sinhalese or even Muslim victim of LTTE terror. Ban ki Moon has conveniently omitted from his itinerary the need to visit the real victims but he has enough time to see political parties linked to LTTE terror, enough time to visit and speak to LTTE linked people, enough time to visit only the North disillusioned into thinking terror struck only in the North of Sri Lanka. This is the Secretary General of the UN preaching equality, justice and accountability. Ban Ki Moon do you have no feelings for the people LTTE killed? Are they not Victims?Do they not deserve a visit from you?

Is it because these victims of LTTE terror are Sinhalese and not Tamil that you will not see them and give them the same sympathy and empathy you and your organization are giving even to LTTE families and LTTE cadres who stole our freedom and our peace. Everywhere that terror is striking now and the screams of fear by people of the West was experienced by us every day, every week, every month, every year for 30 years. Why have you and your organization forgotten this?

WHERE WAS YOUR ORGANIZATION WHEN LTTE WAS KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE THROUGHOUT 30 YEARS?

WHAT IS THE ACCOUNTABILITY YOUR ORGANIZATION WILL HOLD AGAINST LTTE AND LTTE SUPPORTERS?

WHEN WILL JUSTICE BE DELIVERED FOR LTTE WAR CRIMES?

Ban Ki Moon you have no time for thousands of people killed by LTTE in border villages. These innocent people had their bodies cut open, throats slashed and heads dismembered.

Ban Ki Moon have you any idea of the number of buses carrying innocent civilians, the LTTE has bombed or do you not care?

Ban Ki Moon do you have any idea of the sorrow of these families to have heard that their children/parents/husbands/wives are no more. This was no war zone. These civilians were going about their daily chores. What harm have they done to LTTE. Please note the ‘civilians’ your organization are showering empathy towards were either part of LTTE civilian army or were taking part in some kind of hostilities and some of these ‘civilians’ are from LTTE families.

Ban Ki Moon your favourite terrorist organization even struck the national carrier of Sri Lanka and killed an entire British family and scores of other foreigners as well.

Ban Ki Moon is it a waste of your time to be reminded of LTTE’s attacks on commercial buildings specifically targeting innocent civilians and killing them. You have come twice to Sri Lanka, you cared not once to give even a minute of your time to speak to some of these victims of LTTE terror who are still dressing their wounds, some are still blind, some cannot work, some paid a paltry compensation that is not even enough to pay for their medical bills….. are these not civilians?

Mr. Moon is the UN terminology for civilians restricted to Tamil civilians only?

Ban Ki Moon, you may be an evangelical Christian, the UNO may be pro-Christian but you or your organization have no right to ignore and turn a blind eye to the calculated and systematic historical quest to destroy the place of Buddhism in Sri Lanka.

Ban Ki Moon have you ever called for accountability for these crimes? These are student Buddhist monks who were waylaid by LTTE and killed by cutting them to pieces one after another. Do these deaths not mean anything to you or your organization?

Ban Ki Moon you have time to meet LTTE linked people but you cannot spare a minute for the families of the missing 5000 soldiers. Your organizations has not issued one statement on them despite their families logging their details with the UNHRC. LTTE cadres are not POWs, their wives are not war widows, LTTE are not entitled to any of the privileges of a POW, legal status quos are being violated by your office and by your officials and even by NGOs paid by foreign governments. LTTE cadres are not soldiers. What right do they have for compensation. Who asked them to take guns, it is those who trained and armed them who should look after the dead LTTE cadres and their families not the Sri Lankan tax payers. Our families are without at least one member or we have suffered some sort of terror because of the LTTE - we are against paying any compensation to any LTTE cadre. Anyone wanting to do so are welcome to from their own private funds!

Ban Ki Moon have you been sent to carve out a piece of our island to these murderers and barbarians who remain banned in 32 nations? Is this their gift by you and others for their support to create a base in Sri Lanka for Western Agendas? Is this why you, your organization and the West does nothing to investigate the entities linked to LTTE who are lobbying you and your officials freely and openly without no shame.

Lest you and your organization have forgotten LTTE ran a virtual de facto state. LTTE had its own police, its own courts, its own currency, its own planes, boats/ships and it HAS a thriving international criminal syndicate that involves human smuggling, boat people smuggling, prostitute supplying, credit card scams, money laundering, hawala system, gold smuggling from which they bought arms and ammunition but with the ground force eliminated LTTE foreign networks must be having more money to throw around which explains the scores of white ‘rights’ activists coming forward to cry crocodile tears for LTTE and we can bet our last dollar that these individuals will soon be manning the OMP desks of course the UN would smear them with decorative names and honors! See the appalling levels Sooka has stooped to! Even the former UNHRC head has confirmed the conflict of interest claims – after leaving UNHRC one of the her first jaunts as chief guest was to an LTTE front event!

So all tracks are covered to ensure LTTE surviving cadres are protected and packaged as ‘witnesses’ or ‘victims’ while the soldiers who sacrificed their lives and limbs to rid the nation of the scrooge of terror will be hauled to the stands and without the right to defend himself he will have the gavel come down and declared war criminal and put to prison… then decades later just like what happened to Slobadan Milosevic he will be declared not guilty of war crimes but it would be too late… Milosevic died, his wife and children were left without a husband and father and no one even remembers to shame the UN for what they did…. This is going to happen to our soldiers and it is a crying shame that there are people like you, your organization and countless others who would stoop so low. What has happened to humanity …the lies the UN and UNHRC has been party to are unimagineable. There is no place in hell to put these traitors to the world and peace.

Ban Ki Moon do you or your organization know who exactly died in the last stages? Can you categorize them as and give a number to these. It is only if and when you can give numbers that you can claim civilians were killed.

What if children who were child soldiers died engaged in hostilities with the army –it is not a war crime.

What if civilians who had been given training in armed combat died engaged in hostilities with the army –it is not a war crime.

What if LTTE cadres in civilian clothing engaged in hostilities with the army died in combat – it is not a war crime.

So can you, Mr. Moon tell us when 300,000 people were saved as well as 12.000 LTTE cadres in civilian clothing surrendered including 545 child soldiers, who exactly do you claim as ‘civilians’ were killed during the last phase when you and none of those making accusations can give 100 names of the supposed dead. On what grounds are you demanding a war crimes tribunal?

Ban Ki Moon please tell us how many during the last phase of the conflict were:

·         LTTE cadres

·         Belong to the Sri Lankan Army

·         Civilians (who were not involved in any type of hostilities either by force or voluntary)

·         Civilians who were part of LTTE’s armed brigade

·         LTTE cadres who fought as civilians

·         Children who were children

·         Children who were child soldiers

We think we are not wrong in guessing that you and your organization have egg on your faces and so the office of missing persons will do its utmost to turn the lie into a truth through bizarre tweakings of the law that would allow any tiger to come forward as ‘witness’ accuse a soldier of a crime, deny being cross examined so the lie remains a lie and then storm the military establishments to demand confidential documents and none of these weird and crazy laws can be even questioned even through a right of information act which denies the public right of information! To secure status quo further the OMP bill gives provision for foreign aid and foreign officials to man the office thus further denying justice so that none of the lies and fabrications can be leaked. This is appalling conduct for the UN and UNHRC.

Is this the democracy, good governance and CHANGE that the people were promised. People have been gagged and denied freedoms and the nation is told they are having the best of democracy. Libya is now realizing life was better under the ‘dictator’ the West killed and Libyans were promised liberation! Iraqi’s are also realizing life was far better when ‘dictator’ Saddam was around and the Iraqi’s were promised democracy and freedoms. Syrians at least are standing by their ‘dictator’ Assad.

Ban Ki Moon for just one incident (9/11) the UN immediate took action against Al Qaeda, with LTTE committing over 300 acts of suicide terror alone why did the UN not take action?

You come to Sri Lanka, you can shake hands and meet government officials who will provide VVIP treatment but the majority of Sinhalese have only contempt, anger and disappointment at the biased and double standards seen by your conduct.

You can meet TNA the party that the LTTE formed, you can meet TNA officials who are now openly canvassing for the same demands LTTE made and you have all the time to meet them as well as LTTE families and LTTE sympathizers but you have no time to meet a single Sinhalese or even a Muslim family who had been victims of LTTE terror. May we remind you that Sinhalese comprise 74% of the country’s population and a good look at the living conditions of the minorities should make you wonder how they can thrive and be rich when 7 out of 10 people are Sinhalese!

We are very disappointed by the conduct of the UN Secretary General…. and probably we can all guess the type of joint statement likely to come at the end of the visit which will be another nail in the coffin of the sovereignty of this country.

UN-ACCOUNTABLE: What Ban Ki Moon did not admit in Sri Lanka
Shenali D Waduge

He came, he saw, he went. Thankfully there was no joint statement. Obviously, the ground situation would have been sussed up by his advisors as not conducive to any controversial statement. Instead, the unity government would have assured all of UN’s wishes would be met by their side without publicity. That was enough for UN and UNSG. It is a pity that no one questioned the UNSG on the legality of using his internal report as a basis for successive resolutions by nations flouting all customary laws and questioned the non-binding nature of UN resolutions and the most important question is why the UN and UNSG views only Tamils as being the victims while he also needed to be reminded that the Sri Lanka Army fought against terrorists and not Tamils and why the UN and the IC are mixing up two issues the separatist claims of which have no basis at all.

Deciphering Ban Ki Moon’s speech

“I congratulate the Government and the people of Sri Lanka on passing the 19thConstitutional Amendment and the recent Right to Information Act”.

Since when have UNSG’s started interfering in the internal affairs of sovereign states by commending on internal matters and is Ban Ki Moon aware that RIA denies over and above what it claims to give as rights?

“I commend your efforts to move forward on a comprehensive transitional justice agenda, and on a constitutional reform process”.

What exactly is being implied by comprehensive transitional justice agenda? Why is UN so interested in changing our country’s constitution, does the UN ask the US, UK or EU to change their constitutions?

“I also welcome the symbolic steps you have taken, including the decision to sing the National Anthem in Sinhala and Tamil on Independence Day last February for the first time since the 1950s”.

Does the UN ask US to allow the Native Americans to sing their anthem alongside the US anthem? Why doesn’t UN Chief ask India to incorporate Tamil into the Indian national anthem given that there are over 70milion Tamils living in India? These remarks all constitute interference into the internal affairs of Sri Lanka and is a violation of the UN Charter.

“More can and should be done to address the legacy of the past and acknowledge the voices of the victims.”

Who are the victims you are referring to – LTTE cadres? LTTE families? LTTE child soldiers? LTTE civilians? Can UN give us statistics of who exactly died to claim war crimes was committed?

“Sri Lanka is still in the early stages of regaining its rightful position in the region and the international community.”
Who are the international community – if it is only to please the US, UK and EU no thank you because these nations make up hardly 15% of the UN membership but are using UN to fleece nations of the third world. Why has the UNSG not appointed an internal PoE to appraise him of the reasons for the increase in conflicts and connect that with all the covert/overt operations involved by US,UK and NATO nations by arming militants and overthrowing governments. How is it that the UN is not addressing the root of all problems in this world?

“There is still much work to be done in order to redress the wrongs of the past and to restore the legitimacy and accountability of key institutions, particularly the judiciary and the security services,”

The UNSG has no business to be questioning a country’s judiciary or any of its internal systems – this again constitutes a violation of the UN Charter. He has no right to even suggest changes. Corruptions are taking place even inside the UN – corruption hasn’t lessened either, whistleblowers end up losing their jobs or getting sidelined inevitably cornered into leaving their job. A UN that did nothing throughout 30 years to end terror and came into the scene ranting ‘Accountability’ after the SL Army ended terrorism has no business to be preaching about ‘wrongs of the past’. How many wrongs has the UN committed over the years  - even Kosovo and South Sudan are in a bloody mess after helping to declare them independent. While UN allows NATO and US to forcibly and illegally occupy Iraq and Afghanistan while doing nothing about bombing Syria or arming mercenaries. The emphasis by the UN bodies on reducing Sri Lanka’s army in the North is unfounded and again constitutes an interference in the internal affairs of Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan National Army can be stationed ANYWHERE in its legal territory and does not need the permission of US, UK, NATO or UN. What is the UNSG doing about all the illegal military occupations by US & NATO? The US has close to 1000 overseas bases in 38 countries – if UNSG treats all as equals why is he not calling for the removal of troops from Iraq & Afghanistan or Libya?

“Sri Lankans across the country have suffered too much from decades of violence. People now need ways to overcome distrust between communities and mend the fabric of their society. This country is at a crossroad and I commend your bold decision to face the past and deal with the legacies of conflict. The United Nations also has to address the legacy of its actions in Sri Lanka which did not meet the expectations of the people and the world”

What the UNSG needs to admit is that they did NOTHING to stop LTTE terror from 1980s to 2008 which is far bigger than not doing anything during the last 3 months! Overcoming distrust cannot be achieved by pouring more distrust which is what the UNSG just did by arriving for the second time and going only to the North and just to camouflage doing a short trip to the South to meet students. We will not fall for such sham tactics.

I met Tamil leaders to discuss ‘transitional justice and peace building and reconciliation’

Ban Ki Moon these Tamil leaders you are speaking with was formed by the LTTE, they took separate oaths in front of Prabakaran, they were regularly summoned to LTTE and dictated on how they should function. How can reconciliation coincide when these leaders are seeking separatism? What transitional justice are you talking about when the conflict was against terrorists and not Tamils. Are you and your organization taking all of us for a jolly good ride selling us reconciliation while you are contriving to separate Sri Lanka as was done to Kosovo and South Sudan and both these nations are today in peril. These two examples suffice to say your organizations solutions to ‘transitional justice’ are absolutely failures and you should not interfere to create another failure out of Sri Lanka!

A journalist questioned UNSG on the UN’s double standards and whether UNSG believes war crimes took place, Ban ki Moon response was that they followed ‘one standard, one value, one vision when we work with member states….. one UN Charter’

If this were the case why has the UNSG not appointed a single PoE on US and NATO follies? Why is the UNSG not calling for changes to US judicial systems where they have changed terminologies, why is the UN not stopping extraordinary renditions and tortures by the US upon people who have no access to even lawyers and their families do not know where they are? Why is the UN silent on regime change operations where US and Western governments are sponsoring NGOs to topple democratic governments and replace them with puppets who would help Western imperial agendas? Why does the UNSG not admit that Islamic terrorism is co-sponsored by Wahhabi nations supplying the manpower and Western nations providing the arms and directions to destabalize countries and in the migrant/refugee crisis is part of that gameplan to further destabalize even continents!

‘True that there was lack of involvement by the UN’….‘I launched in internal investigation …we found lapses.. lack of involvement on the part of UN’

What is the assurance that the same lapses will not continue. We are talking about 30 years of lapses that had given no relief for the people of Sri Lanka and still the lapses continue with the UNSG’s visit indicating that in his eyes the victims are only Tamils totally forgetting that LTTE had a civilian armed force who were fighting with the army and we do not know who were in that force and if they died during hostilities that is not a war crime. The problem we have is that no Tamil will admit that they either voluntarily or involuntarily supported LTTE terrorism. But until we know this and who they are it is unfair to treat all as victims forgetting the Sinhalese and Muslim victims who had nothing to do with LTTE at all and were targeted and killed.

‘the victims and families cannot wait forever’

Justice must come to the people LTTE killed not the LTTE who were killed. The enemy of all was the LTTE not the Sri Lankan Army. This is where the UN and UNSG and all others in the same camp have got their knickers in a twist. Throw all these dumb vocabularies of ‘transitional juctice’ ‘reconciliation’ to the dustbin we want to know who created LTTE and other armed militants, who funded and trained them, who was paying for their arms and ammunition, who ran their propaganda, who gave them orders to kill.. this is the TRUTH we want. The battlezone is a battlezone. The fight was fair and square. LTTE were given 2 chances to surrender they refused. Inspite of that the Army saved 300,000 people. When guns are exchanged from both sides no one is sending roses. There are deaths. But the deaths were caused because LTTE refused to release the people they were keeping by force. Ban Ki Moon may remember that he too appealed for the release of these people which LTTE ignored. However, the deaths were minimal in the light of the greater lives saved this is a factor we all need to accept. If anyone is claiming that an X number of people died, why don’t they come and name these dead. Without naming dead it is the most stupidest idea to have a war crimes tribunal.

We have been going round the mulberry bush for 7 years now. The UN had 2 investigations which apart from fairytale reports they produced they have not produced any evidence to claim systematic war crimes deliberately was committed. If individual soldiers have done wrongs the military courts and the courts of Sri Lanka are quite able to take on these trials after producing evidence. Even that is not forthcoming. Instead the UN has come up with some dumb witness protection program sealing identities of people for 20 years and an imprisoned soldier will have to wait minimum 20 years to be told that no such witness ever existed and the file in the UNHRC is bogus. We will not agree to subjecting a soldier to such humiliation and ruining his career and family life just to please people’s egos.

It is also a pity that the media did not make reference to the expert opinions of the international terrorism experts who have in their deliberations argued that the SL Army did not commit war crimes and this is the key to nullifying demands for war crimes tribunals and will question the absurdity in hurriedly passing the Office of Missing Persons bill which is opening a can of worms that will backfire on the present government electorally.

There is nothing special in the UNSG’s visit. In a world of chaos with UN having no control the question is why should member nations put up with such a body when a handful of nations are bullying the rest. The Philippine and Venezuelan leaders have called for nations to quit the UN and nations must seriously ponder this and Russia and China must come up with a viable alternative that would no longer treat the developing nation as a battering ram for the West’s imperialism.

OH & S SYSTEMS AND HUMAN SERVICES IN INDIA
By Kanthar Balanathan, Australia

The West and the developing world is focussed on Safety systems for human services at workplace. The respective governments enact regulations, acts, and continue to publish amendments to keep people and workplaces updated of its current knowledge and the regulations and acts they have revised, to cover the hazards employees face during work. Different Acts and Regulations such as, (i) Occupational Health & Safety Act, (ii) OH&S Regulations, (iii) Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) Act, (iv) WH&S Regulations are in place.

Citing excerpts from the Victorian OH&S act: Ref: Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004
Act No. 107/2004i

a)       to secure the health, safety and welfare of employees and other persons at work; and
(b) To eliminate, at the source, risks to the health, safety or welfare of employees and other
Persons at work; and
(c) To ensure that the health and safety of members of the public is not placed at risk by the conduct of undertakings by employers and self-employed persons; and
(d)To provide for the involvement of employees, employers, and organisations representing those persons, in the formulation and implementation of health, safety and welfare standards—having regard to the principles of health and safety protection set out in section

Accidents are investigated, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is carried out to prevent such hazards.

Fireworks Accidents-India

Analysing Indian workers condition at workplaces, it is a crime that the employers in India does not want to enforce Health and Safety systems in their workplaces. Fire cracker factories in the N&S of India are a potential hellhole, where several accidents have occurred with serious injuries and death. The Law in India, may be, turn a blind eye towards employee’s age restriction. Several poor young children are taken away from school to earn money to run their family, where they become the main breadwinners.

Cleaning Industry-India

It’s depressing and frightening to observe the way Tamil Nadu and India in general, how they carry out their maintenance of drains, sewer, storm water draining etc. India boasts to be a growing potential super power with eminent IT specialists, who rotate around the Silicon (SV) Valley area in USA, and the named SV area in Bangalore.
Examples of cleaning industry:

                                   1                                        2                              3                                        4
                                 5                                                                            6
Humans go into sewers and carry out the cleaning. May be the Indian employers and the government do not understand the meaning of PPE- Personal Protective Equipment. This includes face masks, hard hats, ear plugs, respirators, gloves, boots, safety harnesses etc., and if necessary oxygen for breathing. Picture # 3 shows a person in the sewer, with no PPE, carrying out the work while a person inside the sewer is also helping the second person. Picture # 1 is calamitous. Picture # 6 is an indication of the transport industry in rural areas in the North. Picture #5 is the way how the brainless Tamil Nadu people think of their Chief Minister, while she enjoys the worship of the clueless retrograde people. However, the Chief Minister who was once a movie star, unmarried, not a Tamil, enjoys people worshiping her. PPE is equipment worn by workers to minimise risk to the person’s health or safety, which includes a wide range of clothing and safety equipment. Politicians, may have PPE standard of wearing white Dhoti and white shirt, to uphold their uneducated superiority.

Killing of Dalit Humans-India

The caste system in India, is growing to a large proportion where the stamped, Dalit people are being massacred by the Indians, whereas the Dalits are the true inhabitants of the Indian continent. The Brahmins of India are clueless or do not want to accept this fact. Two examples of killing:
·         Dalit people were killed on the roadside in Assam, a girl stripped and kicked, because the Dalits asked for more pay in the tea plantation.
·         Dalit student were massacred and killed within the Law College campus in Chennai.

These are a two examples, however, young girls are being raped and killed. The caste difference does not allow the upper caste to mix with Dalits, however, what law or custom allows them to have sex with Dalit women? Thousands of incidents occur in India every day. However, politicians are busy with bribes, corruption etc. to maintain their position in the ruling industry. Government in India has become an industry for wealth accumulation. Every peasant who enters the parliament becomes a multi-millioner in a few years.

There may be no powerful body or Union to represent the Dalits or to fight for their HR violation. Dalits of India are almost held into slavery by the Indians, and the police cannot do anything about it. It is evident that Tamil Nadu government and its people are the main perpetrators for Human Rights violations.

Human Rights-UN

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) has been a milestone document in the history of human rights. Ref: http://www.un.org/en/universal-declaration-human-rights/

There are a few questions to be asked:
Q1:       Does the United Human Rights Centre is aware of this?
Q2:       Does the UNHR Commissioner know about this activities and sufferings?
Q3:       Does not the UN consider these activities as HR violations at work place?
Q4:       If UN does not have the authority to question India on this discrimination and HR Violation, then who is?
Can we consider that UN fails in her activities and responsibilities of identifying HR violations in developing countries? India has hundreds of standards for workplace and designs. Do the employers and designers comply with the IS/IEC standards, Acts and Regulations? India should come out of their fundamental beliefs of caste, ethnicity, superstitious beliefs and the differential thinking, and make the industry safe for all people, irrespective of caste, creed and ethnicity.

May be UN staff should pay visit(s) to Indian workplaces, to inspect and satisfy whether India complies with their own standards or international standards, rather wasting time in unnecessary political campaigns.

Politicians like Vaiko, Dr Ram doss, Nedumaran, Seeman and the lot should redirect their attention to their own citizens, to sort out the sufferings they undergo. They should forget about SriLanka, because SL has top class operating methods in Industries.

It is unclear how India is going to help SL with the ETCA agreement. Addressing the method, means, manner and condition in which India operates in all their technological sphere, including cleaning, transport etc. industries, one could be suspicious how it will impact on their local industry. It is a belief that India does not comply with standards drafted by human, but superstitious beliefs. India will make the country into which they creep, a garbage tip.

Definitely no country in the West or Sri Lanka treats human beings like that of India. India should sort out their differences before stepping foot on foreign platforms. Indian politicians should refrain from making media statements of human rights violations in SL.

‘Moon prejudges SL ahead of Geneva investigations’

Vanni war compared with cases of genocide blamed on Ruwanda and Serbia

By Shamindra Ferdinando

Wartime Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama yesterday alleged that the outgoing UNSG Ban Ki-moon had caused considerable damage to Sri Lanka ahead of forthcoming judicial inquiry into war crimes allegations by comparing the offensive against the LTTE with genocide in Ruwanda and Srebenica in the 90s.

The UNSG’s comments couldn’t have come at a worse time for Sri Lanka, Bogollagama told The Island.

Discussions are now underway to set up a judicial mechanism to probe alleged war crimes accusations in accordance with Geneva Resolution 30/1 approved in October, last year.

The UNSG delivering a speech on ‘Sustainable Peace and Achieving Sustainable Development Goals’ last Thursday (Sept. 1) at the Colombo Hilton at the invitation of the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute, obviously forgot that that he had received the invitation from an institute set up in the memory of a former Sri Lankan foreign minister assassinated by the LTTE in August 2006, Bogollagama said.

Among the audience were war Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, who had commanded the war winning Army and Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe, wartime minister in charge of relief efforts.

The former Minister pointed out that the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) had ruled that the Srebenica massacre constituted genocide. Subsequently, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) upheld the ICTY ruling, Bogollagama said alleging that the UNSG had obviously prejudged Sri Lanka’s case.

Bogollagama held foreign ministry portfolio during eelam war IV (January 27, 2007 to April 20, 2010). Bogollagama succeeded Mangala Samaraweera in the wake of the then President Mahinda Rajapaksa depriving him of the foreign ministry portfolio.

The military brought the war to a successful conclusion on May 19, 2009. Bogollagama said the UNSG couldn’t have compared Sri Lanka’s situation with the Ruwandan genocide in 1994 under any circumstances.

Responding to a query, Bogollagama said: "UNSG’s statement revealed that the former South Korean foreign minister either had absolutely no idea about the situation here or he deliberately undermined Sri Lanka."

The Island yesterday sought an explanation from UNSG’s spokesperson Farhan Haq as regards the basis on which the UNSG compared Sri Lanka’s war against terrorism and genocide in Ruwanda and Srebrenica. At the time this edition went into press, the UN spokesperson hadn’t responded to the query.

The UNSG told the Colombo Hilton audience: "Something more terrible, serious happened in the past. In 1994, in Rwanda, there was a massacre. More than one million people were massacred. United Nations felt responsible for that."

"We said repeatedly, ‘Never again, never again’. It happened just one year after in Srebrenica. Again, many people were massacred when they were not fully protected by the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations. So we repeated again, ‘Never again’."

"How many times should we repeat never, never again? We did again in Sri Lanka. We have to do much more not to repeat such things in Sri Lanka, Yemen and elsewhere."

The former Foreign Minister urged the government to seek a clarification from the UN regarding what he called a grave mistake on the UNSG’s part.

The Island also sought a clarification from the Foreign Ministry in this regard. However, the Foreign Ministry too failed to respond to our query at the time this edition went to press.

Bogollagama said that the LTTE rump and those who couldn’t stomach Sri Lanka’s victory over terrorism would exploit the UNSG’s comments. The former minister said that Northern Province Chief Minister C.V.

Wigneswaran had repeatedly accused successive governments of practicing genocide in the Northern region and sought UN investigation.

Bogollagama said that number of Colombo based diplomats had expressed surprise at the UNSG’s comments. The former Minister pointed out that none of those who had been present there or the government were yet to clarify Sri Lanka’s position.

Bogollagama said that the UNSG had implied that many deaths could have been avoided in the Vanni east front if UN was on the ground there.

The former Minister said that the UN in early 2007 admitted that its mission in Colombo kept New York in the dark regarding the LTTE detaining UN workers for helping Tamils to leave the LTTE-held area.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon is a disgrace to Asia being a bootlicker of Western Imperialists
Shenali D Waduge

The West will shower praise as Ban Ki Moon steps down after serving two terms as the Secretary General of the UN. Of course the West has much to thank Ban Ki Moon for. He has been a willing minion and slavish compliant for West’s agendas. He is all that Asian leaders should not be. However, for being a bootlicker and facilitator of western imperial agendas, he will be projected as an Asian hero. Asia’s heroes are certainly not people who help carve the path for interventions and illegal occupations. The colossal loss of lives of innocent people and the chaos as a consequence of these interventions are a testimony of the failure of the UN and denotes the uselessness of the role of UN Secretary General. Ban Ki Moon can never be elevated to the status of the real Asian heroes who rose against western imperialism and fought for independence of their countries that had been forcibly taken, occupied and plundered.

Ban Ki Moon is the anti-thesis of what Asian leaders should be. He cannot come close to the great heroes of Asia who stood up against hegemony of the West.

§  Gen. Sukarno led Indonesia’s independence from the Netherlands. Author Pramoedya Ananta Toer once wrote "Sukarno was the only Asian leader of the modern era able to unify people of such differing ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds without shedding a drop of blood."
§  Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh led the independence movement and was a real inspiration to his people.
§  Mao Zedong remains one of China’s most respected national leaders. He is founding father of modern China.
§  Netaji Subash Chandra Bose was one of India’s most charismatic and dynamic leaders. Ambedkar was to say that it was Subash Chandra Bose and not Gandhi who helped end British rule in India.
§  Gen. Aung Sang was an enigmatic figure and for that reason alone the West conspired and killed him.
§  Sri Lanka’s Anagarika Dharmapala was one of the founding contributors of non-violent Sinhalese Buddhist nationalism

The greatness of these personalities is that they stood for their nation and their people. They were spokesmen for no one else but their own. They are hailed as heroes and revered still because they had a vision for their nation and did not carry out visions of other nations. This is what makes them and Ban Ki Moon not poles but planets apart.

The West are welcome to have their own heroes, shower accolades on them but we cannot accept Asians or Africans being turned into our heroes simply because they functioned as lackeys and bootlickers for western agendas. Such people become Western heroes but not Asian or African heroes however way the West will concoct the history.

Ban Ki Moon will belong to the list of South East Asian elites who have ‘forgotten’ the tens of millions of Asians murdered by Western imperialism at the end and after WW2– so says Andre Vltchek who brings the examples of Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, liquidation of Korean civilians by US forces, chemicals used in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Philippines and East Timor. Laos became the most ‘bombed country in the world’. Historian John Bacher in his book ‘The Secret War’ says more bombs were dropped in Laos between 1965-1973 than the US dropped on Japan & Germany during WW2 killing more than 350,000 people.

All of the Wests crimes are forgiven and forgotten but it expects differently from others. As Vltchek points out “empire is proudly pivoting into Asia: it is even bragging about it”. If the empire has no shame and no decency left, boasting democracy and freedom while not bothering to wash the blood of tens of millions it killed, South East Asians like Ban Ki Moon should feel ashamed to be aligned to these objectives.

Ban Ki Moon joins a list of ‘privileged populaces’ in Asia who are educated in the West and invariably conditioned to chose to not know, not remember’ and Ban Ki Moon joins the coterie of the same Asian privileged populace who are silencing those who insist Asia remembers.

The media lies projecting US occupation as a benevolent colonialism has even made Asians believe America has done them a favour although 1million Philippinos were murdered – Prof Teresa S Encarnacion Tadem says ‘Philippines love Americans more than Americans love themselves’. Other nations will vouche for the same attitude.

Ban Ki Moon thus is one of many other Asians who are servants of capitalism, Western imperialism and are now encouraging neo-colonialism.They are not shy to admiringly refer to nations and individuals who murdered millions of people are beacons of progress, democracy and freedom as Vitchek points out.

The Western media ensures the truth is hidden and Western cultures and heroes are idolized. As Vitchek rightly says selective amnesia will soon backfire and boomerang as history always repeats itself and Asia is likely to once again fall because of lackeys like Ban Ki Moon.

Ban Ki Moon is part of the Western-educated Asians who want the rest of Asia to forgive the West and forget its crimes while elsewhere the West continues its crimes with impunity.  Whatsmore the West is paying to forgive and forget through the bribe of funding. Any nation challenging the West is sure to be slapped with sanctions or denied funding!

Imposing apology by taking Sri Lankans on a guilt trip through successive reports, statements and using paid activists is part of the UN plan.

The UNSG went out of line to categorize Sri Lanka’s conflict alongside Rwanda and Srebrenica all aimed at justifying another UN intervention.

The complicity and compliance of the UN & the UNSG to lies in both Rwanda and Srebrenica and countless other nations is a good example of the lies being dished out to justify intervention in Sri Lanka. If Sri Lanka has committed war crimes why is UNSG and UNHRC shying from tabling their reports before the UNGA and UNSC? Its been 7 years and only fairytales but the UN has managed to use below belt tactics and rope in locals prop them into prominent roles and positions in Sri Lanka and then get them to do what the UN system cannot by handing over all sovereign powers of the country to be monitored and administered by the UN.

The ‘feeling ashamed’ of ‘not preventing a genocide’ is a regular feature of all UNSG’s reports/statements. Just as there is a history to the Tutsis & Hutus, there is a history to Sri Lanka’s conflict as well. However, LTTE was an enemy to all communities making Sri Lanka’s case a non-international armed conflict by a group using terrorist tactics against all communities.

In Rwanda during 100 days over 800 people were murdered starting on April 6, 1994 after the UN pulled out of Rwanda and following the killing of Rwandan President Habyarimana when his plane was shot down. Canadian General Romeo Dallaire, head of the UN peace-keeping requested reinforcements. They were not sent.  The West rescue their citizens omitting Rwandans including local staff from their embassies. France is directly accused of playing a role in the genocide. How can UN have a tribunal omitting investigating the West’s role and UN complicity in hiding West’s role and then shed crocodile tears about feeling sorry? Will a tribunal funded by the West ever result in exposing West’s role in murder? Sarkozy even admitted ‘errors’ had contributed to the 1994 genocide. As for the Rwanda tribunal which cost £11 million per indictee. Couldn’t this money be better used? 20 years of arguments, it took 8 years to find 2 guilty of inciting genocide in 2011.

Ban Ki next compares Sri Lanka to Srebrenica massacre. That too was widely publicized as being a genocide. The US/NATO attack on Yugoslavia was nothing but a war of aggression. It was a violation of the UN Charter. In 1995 a draft resolution produce by Britain at the UNSC was voted by Russia - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAQBSGtkx_A

Serbians were like the Sinhalese ridiculed using media lies.

In the case of Srebrenica, western media turned what was 2000 combat deaths of Bosnian-Muslims to 8000 ‘executions of POWs) while in Sri Lanka’s case 40000 figure is being flogged without evidence. In Srebrenica after 5 years only 160 mass graves have been found but no one knows whose bodies they are.

The western mainstream media has demonized President Milosevic and put him into prison, the day he sent word to the Russian embassy of being poisoned he was found dead in his cell. After 16 years we are told that Milosevic did not commit war crimes. We will be damned if we allow Sri Lanka’s war heroes to face a barrage of similar lies to be told decades later they did not commit what they were accused of just because vested parties wanted to lock them up and put them away while they carried out their plans.

The UNSG has been regularly calling Sri Lanka’s new government and congratulating them on good governance and ending nepotism but we now hear that the UN Chief has given his own son-law a topjob in the UN system. Expanding Indian imperialism within the UN a former IPKF officer is now the UN Coordinator for East Africa. Reminds us of how the former UNSG Kofi Annan’s son was also involved in the Oil-For-Food Iraq scandal.

That UNSG’s son-in-law is an Indian and an IPKF officer means that Indian involvement in LTTE’s creation and destabilizing of Sri Lanka by armed militants and Indian intelligence will be omitted from any investigation whatsoever. You cannot have accountability when the source and root of terrorism in Sri Lanka is not investigated. Are these marriages of political convenience we must wonder!

The subject of recusal came when calls were made to Navi Pillai to remove herself from investigating Sri Lanka being herself and ethnic Tamil. The truth of that came when she did not hesitate to become chief guest of LTTE fronts after leaving office!

The path that the UN is taking on behalf of the neo-colonial imperialists is to make countries feel guilty, make them believe that their nation is a failed state, brainwash their minds into feeling sorry (for what they have not committed but which the media claims they have) and in this way by slowly denationalizing, demoralizing and taking away the people’s passion to serve and protect their nation they are slowly advocating to abdicate the nation’s sovereignty to the UN and the West.

UN is slowly helping create the path for imperialism. Sri Lanka is another likely victim unless we all rise against it. The Western Government funded NGOs are the ‘civil society’ whose fundings are never investigated but who bankroll local politicians and movements thus building the foundation for the required change. There is no accountability for these western bankrolled NGOs and the preposterous situation is how a NGO man is drafting SL”s constitution while being funded by foreign governments and the office of missing persons office too is to run by foreign funds and foreigners as well. Where is the sovereignty under local locals? It is obvious that the UN has managed to take over sovereign powers of Sri Lanka.

This is why the present UNSG though an Asian is a disgrace to Asia. As West pivots to again fleece Asia we have a man sitting in an airconditioned room in the West shamelessly working as a stooge and working to turn nations of Asia to the same level of misery the UN & West has made out of Africa, Middle East and East Europe.

Those who comply with the West are no heroes. They are traitors. He became an evangelical Christian because without becoming a Christian there was no career progress. Hailing from a once Buddhist majority country, South Korea prides itself in sending Christian evangelical missionaries.

Ban Ki Moon is what Asian leaders should never be. He has made UN an instrument to serve western imperialism and he is no hero in our eyes.

Russia and China cannot watch as West pivots to destroy Asia.

Well done Philippine President: Human Rights Imperialists HANDS OFF ASIA!

Shenali D Waduge

Act like a slave, get treated like a slave. This is the message Philippine President conveys to Asia in inspiring the need to rise in defiance of imperial pivot to Asia returning to plunder and destroy and devastate Asia as was been done in the past and is currently taking place throughout Africa, Middle East, East Europe and Latin America. As we see from the examples of Iraq, Afghanistan, Yugoslavia, Ukraine, Sudan, Libya and now Syria, nations need defiant leaders or else they too will fall like all those nations today in turmoil. It is only when a nation and its leaders are defiant that the aggressors take a step back and will think twice about stampeding themselves into our territory. Asian nations all have rich histories. They were all plundered and millions have been murdered by Western imperial objectives in the past. No UN entity will ever call for justice for these crimes. We cannot allow our nations to be once more devoured, fleeced and have millions more of our people killed. This is the 21st century if people of Asia cannot rise up against the common enemies we will prove ourselves to be undeserving of the sovereignty that we now enjoy for which our ancestors fought and died for.

How many of Asia’s leaders will dare talk like President of Philippines?

In an interview when Reuters journalist questioned about human rights violations in Philippines, President Duertes gave a response that has shook the world.

“I am the President of a sovereign state”
“Philippines is not a vassal state”
“we have longed ceased to be a colony”
“Nobody cannot interfere…this is an independent country”
“I do not have any masters except the Phippino people”
“You must be respectful – do not just throw away questions and statements”
“Who is he (Obama) to confront me…as a matter of fact he has to answer one too many questions for the mistakes in this country”
“We inherited this problem from the United States because they invaded this country and made us their subjugated people”
“who massacred the 600,000 people in Philipines”….”we have all the details of the sordid period”.
“Look at the human rights of America…they way they treat the migrants…”
“what about all the people killed in the past, is it just a past tense and we don’t answer in the present tense”. “stop fooling yourselves”
“I do not kneel down before anybody else except the Philippinos”
“The campaign against drugs will continue”.

The best that Obama could do was cancel the meeting.

“I want to make sure if I am having a meeting its productive” (why arrange the meeting if it was unproductive in the first place?)

Duertes response to Obama was ‘not to take it personally’. The Philippine leader has even called the US ambassador in Manila a ‘gay son of a whore’ and even called for the exit from UN accusing UN of issuing ‘shitting’ statements about his anti-drug policies. He has even told the Catholic Church ‘don’t fuck with me’

We may have found plenty of leaders with pluck to speak with a spine like the Philippino President in the past, but it is glaringly clear that we do not have such leaders now. You can bet that no Asian leader in the present has or will stand up for their people or their nation as the Philippine President has done with the exception of Russia’s President Putin.

The world expected much from Modi, instead he is showing himself to be more servile than Catholic Sonia with many analysts showcasing India as being used by US against China. Japan is being used in the same manner. In other parts of Asia too leaders are being forced to subjugate to the whims of the West or else face sanctions, economic pressures, NGO induced ground turmoils, and western funded regime change. No one has come forward to rally the masses because these white bullying nations are ruled by only a handful of people, they are even turning their own nations into police states. See how American themselves are suffering in their own nation as US has been turned into a virtual police state – Americans are even afraid to speak against the government decisions!

While mainstream media will do their best to ridicule the Philippine President and lackey locals will feel embarrassed to associate themselves with his comments, Jon Rappoport’s article ‘Who is Obama’s boss’ is excellent reading and concludes it’s the Trilateral Commission founded by David Rockefeller that advances economy-destroying trade treaties (TPP) that will pass power to global corporations as part of its new international economic order which is steering the UN to end sovereign nations. Out of the 87 members of the Trilateral Commission 11 have posts in Obama’s govt.

It is clear that these globalists are using politicians and through them manipulating international legislation to legalize power into the hands of a handful of corporates. In such a scenario the independent states of the world are doomed if we do not have defiant leaders like the Philippine President. Lets all remember that other defiant leaders like Venezuela’s Chavez, Libya’s Gaddafi, Serbia’s Milosevic have all been virtually ‘removed’ because of their defiance and their ability to rouse the public against globalist agendas. This cannot scare leaders who are elected leaders not to be servants of the West and say yes to everything they demand.

The leaders of Asia who have come to power on the people’s mandate must remember that they have not been voted to power by the people to hand over the nation’s sovereignty to external forces. They are only custodians of power and have no right to be dishing out parts of a country as if it is their personal property. They are beholden to the people to protect and preserve the territory, territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country.

The contrary is taking place. The globalists that control the media, the politicians and even the UN have managed to place puppets in key decision making positions and through them are bringing in bizarre legislation that virtually abdicates sovereign powers to virtual companies. The recently passed Office of Missing Persons bill in Sri Lanka is so ridiculous that it is to be manned by foreigners, it can get aid by foreigners and it cannot be even questioned by the public nor can those accused cross examine those who are accusing them. We are seeing the world being turned into a serfdom where a handful of people are conspiring to bring global power into their hands through puppets they have placed in power.

It is in this context that we must praise the Philipine leader for coming out to call a spade a spade. To hear a leader of the third world country tell the US that it cannot afford to talk of human rights having killed millions of people and continuing to kill should be music to anyone’s ears primarily because if anyone is pointing fingers at President Duertes why are the same lot not doing the same against UN & NATO crimes being committed with impunity.

Why is no one questioning the puppets in the form of UN Secretary General and UNHRC Head.

The former UNSG Kofi Annan was received by ‘boos’ and ‘hooos’ by the Myanmar people. The UNSG Ban Ki Moon has gone out of line by comparing Sri Lanka to Rwanda and Srebrenica without being able to even produce 100 dead names in 7 years.
The UNHRC head has displayed his puppet role in his comments against Trump,  Farage and Wilders calling them ‘demogogues’ and comparing them to ISIS yet silent that the West created ISIS with help of West-friendly Islamic states. Connect the dots and see.

Report of the Special Study Group The Doolittle Committee Report to US President Eisenhower in 1954 concluded “If the US is to survive,…………….. We must develop effective espionage and counterespionage services and must learn to subvert, sabotage and destroy our enemies by more clever, more sophisticated means than those used against us. It may become necessary that the American people be made acquainted with, understand and support this fundamentally repugnant philosophy.(Report of the Special Study Group – Doolittle Committee – on the Covert Activities of the Central Intelligence Agency, 30 September 1954

We can give some examples

·         In 1953 CIA and British intelligence overthrew Iranian President Mossadegh because he nationalized Iran’s oil. US replaced an elected leader with the Shah who returned oil to West.

·         In 1954 US overthrew Guatemala’s elected leader Jacobo Arbenz

·         In 1950s US wanted to prevent the election of Ho Chi Minh and carried out a bloody war resulting in 4million deaths destroying countries of Laos and Cambodia as well.

·         1961 Congo’s elected leader Patrice Lumumba was killed

·         1964 Brazils leader Joao Goulart was deposed with help of its military

·         1965 Washington backed an armed coup in Indonesia killing 1m peasants and installing Suharto who invaded East Timor with US support and wiped out 30% of the Timorese population.

·         1965 CIA assassinated dictator and American puppet Rafael Trujillo because he had gone out of line, placed Juan Bosch as President and ousted him 5 months later too and placed another puppet Balaguer through a fraudulent election with the help of 40,000 American soldiers (underlining that even puppets are eventually discarded – a thing that Asian puppet leaders should worry about)

·         1973 US funded opposition in Venezuela as soon as Salvador Allende became President and with the help of the military overthrew Allende and placed Augusto Pinochet.

·         1990-2004 US puppets Papa Doc and Baby Doc Duvalier caused much hardships for the people of Haiti and Aristide came to power in 1990, 3 years later a coup organized by US left Aristide in exile.

William Blum gives a list of governments the US has overthrown.

In more recent news - Ukraine's former security chief, Aleksandr Yakimenko, has reported that the coup-plotters who overthrew the elected government in Ukraine, "basically lived in the (U.S.) Embassy. Ukraine is said to be America’s 80th stint at overthrowing governments since 1953.

Therefore Philippine leader has every right to question America’s right to question human rights in other countries. His country is another US victim. US has been periodically deposing Philippine leaders and installing their men to head the country and these successes were even congratulated by the US government. Historian Stanley Karnow’s book “In the Philippines, the CIA Has Found a Second Home” and says “An American candidate for Philippine Presidency” which clearly indicates how local puppets are becoming willing guinea pigs for empire building and Philippine President Duertes is quite right to point fingers. You can bet that the heat will be turned on in Philippines and he would be targeted for removal sooner than later. We hope not but this is how the Western imperialists react when their crimes are brought into the open and questioned.

Volume after volume can be written on imperial expansionist projects being ironed out using the UN, foreign funded NGOs and their local lackey representatives and other puppets propped to national roles and paid to deliver the goods ignoring the fate that will befall their country and their people. More often than not these lackeys are induced with perks and privileges, promised a home abroad and to be looked after for forsaking their nation and with no conscience or feeling for anyone but themselves they are ever willing to sign on any dotted line that these imperialists put forward. Which is why we must applaud President Duertes for standing up as he has done even to the shock of the nation who has too longed become used to be being servants of the West and accepting all of the dump that the West dishes out to them.

We need more leaders who have spine and not leaders who will bend over backwards whenever foreign leaders with blood on their hands descend and preach to us about human rights.

As for Sri Lanka, Obama has admitted Libya was a ‘mistake’ and that there was no plan for Libya after they brought regime change. With the present chaos in Sri Lanka after regime change in 2015 we have to wonder whether there is no plan for Sri Lanka too or be more worried with Sri Lanka being turned into UN-monitored state as indications point with puppet leaders abdicating sovereign powers with every Bill being hurriedly passed.

THE “KINGDOM OF JAFFNA”

KAMALIKA  PIERIS

Jaffna was originally an island called ‘Nagadipa’ , separated from the mainland by a narrow strip of water. It became linked to the mainland only in the 18 century. It was a part of the Sinhala kingdom and under the Sinhala king till the 13th century. The Vallipuram manuscript shows that during the time of king Vasabha, (67-111 AD) his minister ordered that a vihara be built in Nagadipa.’ Tilak Hettiarachchy, examining the history of kingship in the early Anuradhapura period suggests that though ‘epigraphic data is not available for the north, the fact that the king built viharas in this area is proof of its being within the king’s territory.’

Three coins which could be assigned to Sinhala kings have been found in Jaffna area.  The first coin found at Kadurugoda, (Kantarodai) has been assigned to Parakrama bahu I (1153-86). It is considered to be an extremely rare coin. The second coin, a Massa coin of the Dambadeniya period is assigned to Parakrama bahu II (1236-70). The third coin is assigned to Parakrama bahu VI.  During British rule, the government agent, Mr. J. P. Lewis, on  a visit to Vallipuram learnt that the Police Vidane there was in possession of a gold coin which had been discovered in 1890. He obtained the ‘find’ and sent it to the Archaeological Commissioner,  H. C. P. Bell, for identification. It turned out to the Iraka or Daraka,  a Sinhalese coin of very debased gold.

Jaffna ports were used for  sea travel during the Anuradhapura period. ‘Jambukola pattana,’ (modern Kankesanturai)  was an important embarkation port for India. There was a high road from Jambukola pattana to Anuradhapura to facilitate this. ‘Uratota’ (modern Kayts) was an important commercial port in  the Polonnaruwa period. The Nainativu Tamil inscription datable to the reign of Parakramabahu I, suggests that foreign vessels laden with merchandise arrived at the port of ‘Uraturai.’ An inscription of 1178 declares that the Sinhalese were building ships and assembling troops at Uratota and other places in order to make a fresh invasion of South India.

Jaffna was a part of the Sinhala Buddhist civilization. There are remains of Buddhist temples at Kantarodai (Kadurugoda) and other places in the Jaffna peninsula. A.D.N. Fernando pointed out that Delft also had ruins of dagobas and brahmi inscriptions. Malini Dias says a stone image of the Buddha about 8 feet in height was unearthed near Vishnu temple in Vallipuram, in 1903, together with ruins of buildings, pottery and coins. The statue was gifted to Thailand in 1906 by the British governor Henry Blake. It is now in Bangkok.

P.A.T. Gunasinghe says the place names of Jaffna only make sense if they are seen as translations of Sinhala names. He points out that ‘vil” means ‘bow,’ and ‘pay’ means ‘net’ in Tamil. Therefore names like Kokuvil and Manipay only make sense when they are seen as the Tamilization of the Sinhala words Kokavila and Mampe. Valikamam and Vimankam are meaningless in Tamil, but make sense if the villages originally bore the Sinhala names of Valigama and Vimangama. Some place names like Polvattai refer to the Sinhala used in 14th century. Gunasinghe says that Jaffna was populated by Sinhalese in the medieval period, though the area between Jaffna and Anuradhapura may have had Tamil settlements in the medieval period.

Jaffna went under foreign rule very easily. A Malay (Javaka) ruler, called Chandrabanu, from Ligor ( present day Nakon Sri Tammarat , Thailand) invaded the Dambadeniya kingdom around 1247. Chandrabanu attacked at Yapahuwa with troops from Chola and Pandya kingdoms. His intention was to take over the whole country.Parakrama bahu II  (1236-70) defeated him. Chandrabanu  did not return to Malaya but ended up in Jaffna. Chandrabanu’s coins have been recently found in the north. Place names such as Chavakaccheri suggest that the Malays may have stayed in Jaffna peninsula for some time.

Around 1258,   Jatavarman Sundara Pandya  ruler of the Tamil kingdom of India, invaded Chandrabanu’s territory and levied tribute. Jatavarman Vira Pandya invaded in 1263, killed Chandrabanu and placed his son as a vassal ruler in Jaffna. Father and son ruled for a total period of about 55 years.  In 1286, the Pandyas again invaded and placed the first of the Ariyachakravarti rulers in charge in Jaffna.  He was Cinkaiyariyan, a powerful  general from the Pandya kingdom. He ruled at Nallur

P.A.T. Gunasinghe pointed out that unlike most kings, Ariyachakravarti left no inscriptions. The tradition of leaving inscriptions was there at the time, and there is one relevant inscription in Kegalle, but none in Jaffna, indicating that this kingdom was not an independent one but was a part of the south Indian Pandya kingdom. Jaffna became, according to Vernon Mendis “a Pandyan principality”.

Later, succession disputes arose in the Pandya kingdom in South India and the kingdom became unstable.  Malik Kafur, a Muslim from Gujerat attacked and took the Pandya capital of Madurai in 1311.  This would have helped Ariyachakravarti  to strengthen his position in Jaffna. The area under Ariyachakravarti in Sinhaladvipa  grew in size and by 1344 the pearl fisheries around Mannar were in his hands. Gunasinghe says that the Jaffna principality probably extended along the north-western coast.

Ariyachakravarti  owned armed pirate vessels and a merchant marine service which operated as far as Yemen. He spoke fluent Persian. Ariyachakravarti was able to send Ibn Batuta safely to Adams Peak. Ariyachakravarti attacked Vikramabahu III (1359-74) and exacted tribute. The territory conquered by Ariyachakravarti included Colombo, Negombo, Wattala and Chilaw. Rajavali states that Tamil agents were stationed at various places including seaports to collect the tribute.

P.A.T Gunasinghe says that this period of control by Jaffna did not exceed 29 years. It was probably much less. Nissanka Alagakkonara, a powerful minister in Vickramabahu’s court, challenged the Jaffna king. According to theRajavali, he did so by hanging the king’s tax collectors. Ariyachakravarti attacked by land and sea. Alagakkonara defeated him at Colombo and Kotte and pushed upward taking back all territory except Jaffna, in which he was not interested. The tribute ended.

Historians are definite that there was no territorial annexation of the Sinhala kingdom by Jaffna, though revenue was handed over. Gunasinghe says Vickramabahu III remained a sovereign, independent king, not politically subordinate to anybody, and moreover, claiming authority over the whole country. After Alagakkonara died, Ariyachakravarti invaded again His army advanced from Jaffna to Matale. The king, Buvanekabahu V (1374-1408) ran away, but the army took control without him and defeated Ariyachakravarti.

Jaffna then went under a new south Indian ruler, the Vijayangara Empire of Karnataka. The Vijayangara Empire  ruled over  the whole of south India from 1366 to 1646. Their capital was at Hampi and the language was Kannada. By 1364 they had taken over the Pandya kingdom of Madurai. Jaffna was made to pay tribute and when it tried to rebel, prince Virupaksha of the Vijayangara Empire invaded and brought Jaffna under control. This is indicated in his inscription dated 1365. Vijayanagara  also tried to invade the Sinhala  kingdom but was repulsed. Jaffna was under Vijayanagara in 1507.  Vijayanagara  continued to claim tribute from Jaffna  until the Portuguese arrived. Jaffna was  conquered by the Portuguese in 1560 . The  Jaffna ruler fled to Tanjore and returned with an army and was promptly defeated by the Portuguese who also had got reinforcements from South India.
The Sinhala king never abandoned his  desire to bring the whole island, including Jaffna under him. Jaffna  went  under    Sinhala rule for brief periods.  Parakramabahu VI  ( 1411-66) sent Sapumal Kumaraya to conquer the peninsula.  Sapumal  subdued the Vanni and  took over Jaffna  and  the island came under one king.  G.V.P. Somaratne says there were Sinhalese in Jaffna when Sapumal entered. The  Jaffna ruler ran away to south India and did not return for two  decades.’

Sapumal Kumaraya ruled Jaffna  for 16 years, after which he returned to  Kotte to take over the throne  as Buvaneka bahu VI ((1469-77). He was not interested in retaining Jaffna and Jaffna reverted to Vijayangara. However,  it may have paid tribute to Kotte because a sannasa issued by Dharma Parakrama bahu IX  (1489-1513)declared that he was the king of Kotte, Kandy and Jaffna (trisinhala adhiswara). Buvaneka bahu VII  (1521-51)had wanted the Portuguese to take  Jaffna  and give it   to him.  Senerat (1604-35)   arranged marriages for two of his sons, with the nieces of Jaffna’s ruler, Sankili. The nieces were living in Tanjore. Senerat invaded  and took Jaffna in 1628.  The Portuguese won it back in 1629.

There never was an independent Kingdom at Jaffna. Jaffna was merely a vassal state of the Pandya kingdom.University of Ceylon History of Ceylon described it as ‘none too strong and small in size’. K. M de Silva said that it  did not control ‘anything more than the Jaffna peninsula, some adjacent regions on the coast and some parts of the interior’ . Pathmanathan says the 7 principalities the Vanni paid tribute to Jaffna and that Queyroz had included them as part of the Kingdom of Jaffna. Other historians  say it did not control even the Vanni, which remained independent even during Dutch times. It  was  unable to resist invasions and  was  dominated by South India. It had had no significant achievements and  historians took  no notice of it. None of the Tamil kings, except perhaps Cankili ( 1519-1560),   compared favorably with the kings of Sitawaka or Kandy.

However, the  Tamil Separatist Movement  made much of the   ‘Kingdom of Jaffna’. A. J. Wilson states that ‘a  fair section of the island was in under Tamil rule’ (States of South Asia p 297). This ‘kingdom’ was the subject of S. Pathmanathan’ s book  ‘Kingdom of Jaffna’ ( 1978) ,  a revised version of his Ph. D, thesis. This work traces the history of the kingdom from the beginning to the mid-15th century. Pathmanathan observes that the first kings of the Kingdom of Jaffna were not even Sri Lankan Tamils. They were Arya Chakravartis from South India, who invaded Jaffna in the 13th century, and established a kingdom with the help of the Pandyan kings of South India. Thereafter, according to Pathmanathan, the Kingdom of Jaffna became a ‘maritime province of some importance’ and enjoyed some respite from foreign raids until the Vijayanagara conquest.

Pathmanathan’s research clearly indicates the limitations  within which any claims could be made regarding this kingdom. The main source for the history of  this ‘kingdom’ is the Yalapana Vaipava Malai written in 1736 at the request of the Dutch governor.   Pathmanathan admits that this work is defective in chronology and genealogy. No specific contributions any king is recorded in it. Of the ten kings who are said to have ruled till 1450, only 4 are known in sources other than in Yalpana Vaipava malai.

Jaffna has no historical records which confirm the existence of a formal kingdom at Jaffna. ‘Local Tamil chronicles don’t give a clear account of the beginning of the kingdom or its rulers, admitted Pathmanathan. They do not provide clear information on important issues, such as the origins, or even the date of the founding of the Ariyachakravarti dynasty. There is no proper chronology of its kings. Regnal dates for some of them are lacking. K.M.de Silva’s History of  Sri Lanka  lists  17 ‘kings of Jaffna.’ He provides dates only for the last four and these dates start from 1478. De Silva refuses to furnish dates before that and says that even from the 1478 onwards, ‘there are problems with regard to regnal dates’.

UN BIAS - Why doesn’t UN call for Accountability from US/NATO for bombing countries and killing people?

 Shenali D Waduge

If the UN claims to be a body held together to maintain global peace and claims to treat all UN member states equally, then the UN cannot have one law for some and no law for others. This is precisely what we see happening. One country has been bombing countries together with partner countries since 1945 and nothing is being done against them. UN cannot wash its hands by saying these crimes happened before UN was implemented. All the crimes have occurred under the UN’s watch and some of these crimes the UN has been complicit in helping justify invasions and occupations. UN cannot create tribunals and investigations against some countries and ignore the need for greater actions against countries that manufacture arms and create conflicts and even the terrorists so as to sell their arms by arming both sides and thereafter to add to injury send off their missionaries in the form of NGOs to further destabalize countries. This farce must stop. We have seen enough bloodshed and put up with UN lies enough.

The countries that the US and allies have bombed represent 1/3 of the people on this earth. The UN must explain its silence and inaction.

A senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, Micah Zenko, noted that the United States has dropped an estimated 23,144 bombs in the Muslim-majority countries of Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015 alone. What has UN done about this? However, if any other country is defending itself as Syria has done the UN is quick to come up with reports finding fault with Syria. What kind of double standard is this?

Saudi Arabia was put on the UN shamelist for bombing children and one call threatening to remove funds to the UN was enough for Saudi to be removed from the list! This means money dictates who UN takes action against. Why is Africa and Asia remaining in the UN to be treated like shit.

William Blums’ list of US bombings

US also dropped a bomb in Philadelphia, USA burning down an entire block and destroying 60 homes. 11 died including children. The aim was to evict a black organization called MOVE.

US has invaded 70 countries since 1776 which excludes the covert operations of US/CIA.

Since 1945 US has invaded/missions deployed/occupations – Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Cuba, Laos, Congo (Zaire), Cambodia, Turkey, El Salvador, Libya, Grenada, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Serbia, Honduras, Panama, Philippines, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Bosnia, Macedonia, Haiti, Liberia, Central African Republic, Gabon, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan, East Timor, Nigeria, Yemen, Ivory Coast, Georgia, Djibuti, Pakistan, Uganda, Jordan, Chad (OVER 20 COUNTRIES INVADED IN 20 YEARS)

The US President Obama visiting Laos acknowledged US bombings in Laos but did not apologize or even speak a word on compensating for the destruction and deaths. Laos is a poor land-locked country of 6million people. It was no threat to US yet America bombed Laos more than the bombs dropped on Germany during World War. American public to this day do not know why the US bombed Laos and many of them do not even care.

A small insurrection between poor peasants against the King and crooks who were controlling Laos was enough for US to attack the peasants siding the crooks.
Between 1964-1973, two hundred and ten million bombs were dropped on Laos - (Legacies of War), 270million cluster bombs dropped, 80million cluster bombs did not detonate and are still buried in farmland.

According to Ben Williams US is currently bombing – Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia and now Syria. If US didn’t unnecessarily bomb countries it would not have to spend money on military budgets which has kept the nation and people in debt.

Before 9/11 America’s debt was 6trillion. It is now just over 19trillion. The American people are funding the wars and the American corporates are getting richer from these wars.

Moreover, the US is creating enemies by bombing countries and people who have done no harm to America or Americans.

Even 9/11 is now appearing to be an inside job though Afghanistan was bombed and occupied for no reason. Bombing Afghanistan for one day is what cost to build the entire Pentagon building! Guess how many more buildings could have been built for that money and US has been occupying Afghanistan since 2001.

When attention to law and order is needed in America, why should American Governments want to liberate and free people in other countries by demonizing leaders their people have elected? If countries love their ‘dictators’ what is America’s problem?

Lets get this straight – we have a global ‘war on terror’ those going out to war have created the terrorists they are going after and the ordinary people of America and NATO countries & UK are funding these games?
Surely the UN must know this but the puzzling question is what are they doing about it?

None of the US/NATO bombings are winning the hearts of any of the people in the countries the US claims to want to liberate and bring democracy to. Who gave America the role of global policeman? What is the diplomacy US is promoting – threats, ultimatums, sanctions and bombings hardly look democratic!

According to Nick Turse 134 countries have been victim of America’s secret wars.  https://www.thenation.com/article/americas-secret-war-134-countries/ Has the UN been asleep throughout?

It is not only the US/NATO troops who are committing war crimes. War has become a business and plenty of military contractors are now in all of the countries US/NATO have invaded and occupied. Private military and security companies are in reality non-state actors as they are armed but are not soldiers - employees of the US-based firm XE/Blackwater killed 17 civilians in Iraq in 2007. GlobalResearch has done a study of the crimes they have committed http://www.globalresearch.ca/the-privatization-of-war-mercenaries-private-military-and-security-companies-pmsc/21826

The UN/UNSG & UNHRC heads and countless other UN officials are interfering into the internal affairs of sovereign nations by asking them to close down military camps inside their own nations but the UN is silent on over 1000 US bases in nearly 130 nations.

While US spent $600m for the first week of airstrikes on Libya, Russian President Putin says ISIS is funded by 40 countries including G20 http://www.anonews.co/putin-reveals-isis-fundings/ while  Julian Assange claims Hillary Clinton and her State Department have been actively arming Islamic jihadists, which includes the Islamic State in Syria — ISIS. http://wearechange.org/busted-hillary-clinton-and-obama-administration-supply-u-s-weapons-to-isis/ and GlobalResearch claim all Islamic groups have been created, funded, armed and trained by the West http://www.globalresearch.ca/america-created-al-qaeda-and-the-isis-terror-group/5402881

Obviously UN not doing anything against the perpetrators of the perpetrators because the UN officials may lose their jobs and UN knows who butters their bread. If the UN is doing nothing about the nations that are destabalizing the world then the UN has to jolly well shut up without going after selected nations only.Coincidentally, the nations that the UN is going after are also in the gamut of the geopolitical endeavors of the US/NATO and other alliances and while they are busy bombing nations, UN appears to be tasked to do a non-military takeover of sorts.

US & NATO claimed Yugoslavia was a ‘peacekeeping operation’.
·        ‘Peace’ resulted in dividing Yugoslavia to pieces and left 5700 dead including 400 children, over 7000 civilians wounded 30% of whom were children, 821 people are missing – UN nowhere to be seen with resolutions, war crimes tribunals against US & NATO, no UNSG PoE on what happened to the ‘peace operation’, no reports on why UN ‘failed Yugoslavia’. http://www.hrw.org/reports/2000/nato/Natbm200-01.htm

·        Similarly the ‘peace operation’ in Afghanistan was no different – over 35,000 dead, over 500,000 refugees, increase in drug trafficking (quite strange), more terror attacks http://abcnews.go.com/International

·        Iraq too was a ‘Save Iraqi people from dictator Saddam’ operation but to kill 1 man over 1million Iraqis have been killed, US and NATO forces used forbidden weapons including white phosphorus. UN and UNSG & UNHRC all looking the other way still.  http://www.orb-international.com/Newsroom_details.aspx?NewsId=120

·        Next came Libya again to get rid of 1 man over 20,000 people have ended up dead with over 350,000 refugees! Once more UN/UNSG and UNHRC looking the other way ignoring US/NATO crimes even after NATO Gen Sec Fogh Rasmussen claimed NATO airstrikes in Libya did not result in any civilian casualties (Aug 2011)

US & NATO have been deceiving the world
Gulf of Tonkin lie of 1964 led to Vietnam claiming Vietnam speedboats attacked US fleet. Declassified documents now confirms the lie. US used napalm bombs which literally burns people alive.

Yugoslavia has been balkanized through ‘peace keeping missions’ driving out ethnic groups to create ethnic-independent states. NATO’s role is a violation of its own charter, the Washington Treaty, 1st article which says members of the Alliance ‘must settle all international disputes in which they may be involved in by peaceful means in such a way as not to endanger international peace, security and justice and to refrain in the international relations from the threat or use of force in any manner inconsistent with the purposes of the United Nations”. NATO violated article 6 of the Treaty too as NATO is limited to the territory of members of the Alliance and Yugoslavia, Macedonia, Albania and Bosnia are not members of NATO. The 7th article of the Washington Treaty says that NATO recognizes the ‘responsibility of the Security Council for the maintenance of international peace and security”  Weapons used by NATO on Yugoslavia are banned by the Nuremberg Charter/Geneva and Hague Conventions. UN did sweet nothing. NATO used shells with uranium which are radioactive and highly toxic affecting both humans and the environment. NATO used cluster bombs against prohibited. nato.int/cps/ru/natolive/official_texts_17120.htm

NATO is guilty of intervening in the internal affairs of a sovereign state and threatening its territorial integrity. These were violations of Article 1 of the UN Resolution 1974 “Aggression is the use of armed force by a state (group of states) against the sovreighty, territorial integrity or political independence of another state or in any other manner inconsistent with the Charter of the United Nations as set out in this definition” – UN deaf, dumb and blind to all these violations! politics.ru/articles/database/global/pravoviie_dokumentii/rezoliutsiia_generalnoij_assamblei_oon_%C2%ABopredelen.shtml

Iraq was invaded under the pretext of holding weapons of mass destruction and to bring democracy, Democratization of Iraq has cost 1million people’s lives. The ‘dictator’ Saddam was publicly executed but there was no WMD. UN happy to tag along with the lies. In 2004 US Secretary of State Colin Powell admitted the data was ‘inaccurate’ rather it was falsified. Is a sorry enough for killing so many people and destroying a nation when UN is calling for accountability from other nations!!!
That is not all – we cannot forget the torture and abuse of Iraqi detainees at the Abu Ghraib prison.

US used white phosphorous during the battle for Nasiriyah in April 2003, as well as the assaults on Fallujah in April and November 2004- these burns bodies and dissolves flesh to the bone was banned by the UN Convention on certain weapons in 1980, but the US never ratified it.

There is allegation that NATO dumped uranium dust – a radioactive substance again banned by UN Convention. There are also allegations of NATO using mustard gas again prohibited under UN conventions.

All these ‘democratization’ projects of the West (US/UK & EU) appear to be to fast forward the key objective of ‘access to African/Asian markets and resources’ and Middle East needs to be dealt with to realize that objective.

The message to the UN is that they cannot hound some countries only. The UN witchhunt must stop. If the UN is ignoring all of America’s and NATO crimes majority of which is the cause of the world in chaos, then there is little reason for the nations of Africa, Asia or even Latin America to continue to be members of the UN. Moreover the UN and its officials are virtual puppets of the West and will follow all of West’s instructions which explains why UN officials are taking honeymoons to Africa and Asia and slapping them with all sorts of divorce papers all of which lead to dividing their nations and breaking the nation-state system.

We must all say enough is enough and build a voice against the UN which is morally corrupt and should not be allowed to interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign nations and force nations to abdicate their sovereign powers to bring it under the control of the UN which is ruled by the West. We are now returning to modern colonial rule.
